Produced over 2 months in tandem with the development of choreography, this music started with the word bão or storm. Exploring the sensory experience of heavy tropical typhoons which annually batter the central region of Vietnam, Đoàn Thanh Toàn drew upon his own memories and those of the five collaborating dancers, all of whom grew up with this natural phenomenon as a regular fixture in their lives. 

"Originating as an urge to reflect on typhoons and most centrally, the people whose lives they churn, the piece evolved into exclamations of collective intimacy. When it starts raining, a people run. A people wait. A people look up and sing." 

As the ensemble laboured, playfully but with austere dedication, Toàn liaised closely with tomes (aka Tobias Paramore), sharing stories and outlining next steps under the tin roof at CAB Hoi An. tomes took these notes back to his home studio in Danang and blended Toàn’s emotional inferences with filtered noise, thumbed basslines, microtonal synthesiser arpeggios, and whispered voices; weaving a gradually swelling, miasmic backdrop for the artist’s movements. 

The resulting audio is a co-production dependent on many parties, most notably, Toàn, but also, the dancers, Nguyễn Tấn Đại, Nguyễn Hạ Xuân Nguyên, Nguyễn Ngọc Gia Khiêm, Phạm Thị Hồng Sâm, Trần Phương Trinh. Also Red (Nguyễn Hải Yến) and Ngô Thanh Phương from MORUA, whose residency program enabled this project.

Được thực hiện song song với quá trình biên đạo kéo dài hai tháng, các bài nhạc khởi nguồn với từ khoá: bão. Nhằm khám phá những trải nghiệm cảm quan gắn liền với những cơn bão cào xé miền Trung mỗi năm, Đoàn Thanh Toàn khơi gợi những kí ức của bản thân và của năm nghệ sĩ chuyển động, ai nấy đều lớn lên với những cơn mưa dông gió giật triền miên.  

"Dự án bắt đầu với nỗi niềm suy tưởng về “bão” và nhất là những con người luôn phải oằn mình trong bão ở vùng quê mình. Khi tác phẩm dần phát triển, nó trở thành những cơn ứa trào của một nỗi thân thương tập thể. Mỗi lúc trời mưa, chúng tôi chạy. Chúng tôi đợi. Chúng tôi ngửa mặt lên trời và hát." 


Dưới mái tôn của CAB Hoi An, nhóm vũ công vừa chơi đùa vừa lao động miệt mài trong lúc Toàn làm việc chặt chẽ với tomes (aka Tobias Paramore), cùng chia sẻ những câu chuyện và vạch ra kế hoạch tỉ mỉ.  tomes đem những ý tưởng này về studio của mình ở Đà Nẵng, hoà trộn những diễn giải cảm xúc của Toàn với tiếng nhiễu lọc (filtered noise), những thumbed basslines, microtonal synthesiser arpeggios, và tiếng thì thầm; đan dệt nên một không gian âm thanh khắc khoải, mỗi lúc một căng phồng, bao trùm lấy chuyển động của các nghệ sĩ. 

 m thanh thành phẩm là một sự kết hợp phụ thuộc vào nhiều phía, bao gồm Toàn cùng các nghệ sĩ Nguyễn Tấn Đại, Nguyễn Hạ Xuân Nguyên, Nguyễn Ngọc Gia Khiêm, Phạm Thị Hồng Sâm, và Trần Phương Trinh. Ngoài ra phải kể đến Red (Nguyễn Hải Yến) và Ngô Thanh Phương, những người đỡ đầu của MORUA đã cùng thai nghén dự án này.
