Music by British born contemporary classical composer, Des Oliver. 


Des Oliver studied composition at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Robert Saxton and Simon Bainbridge. In 2000 he won a Scholarship to study with Steve Martland at the Royal Academy of Music in London and has had Master classes with Tom Adés, Nicholas Maw, Paul Patterson, the BBC Singers, Paavo Heininen, Paul Rouders and Simone Fontanelli. At present he is working towards his Doctorate in composition (DPhil) at Worcester College, Oxford. 

 

His music has been performed at the British Music Information Centre (B.M.I.C), the South Bank Centre as part of the Park Lane Group Young Composer's Symposium, The Sheldonian Theatre, Chelmsford Music Festival and Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival. Commissions include a piece for the Oxford Philomusica, a work for Clio Gould and the Royal Academy of Music Soloists as part of the Arvo Pärt in profile Festival. His short Opera 'Miss Treat', with a libretto by Meredith Oakes, was performed by the Tête á Tête Opera Company at the Bridewell Theatre receiving rave reviews from the Observer, Independent and Telegraph. International performances include Wegelius Hall in Helsinki, Pärnu Music Festival in Estonia, Hudebni Akademie Muzickych umeni (in Prague) and at the II Música Nueva Málaga Internacional Festival in Spain (2009) in association with soloist Emil Sein, Composer/Professor Dino Ghezzo and choreographer Lisa Naugle.


Trephena is a singer/song writer from East London.  Influenced by many genre's and artists her album wouldn't be put into a box. With influences such as r'n'b and neo-soul she's also been heavily influenced by reggae and calypso/soca and growing up in London her teenage years were all about UK Garage, where she discovered she could MC after trying to emulate Alesha Dixon from the girl group Mis-teeq. Being a fan of music she's also been influenced by dance, drum'n'base, dub-step, funk,rap,rock and popular music. 

Trephena's song writing ability is reminiscent of neo-soul however, the beat put underneath transform the track into her own unique style. With her catchy phrases and melodic structures the combination is exquisite. Trephena can write to a whole range of genre's and scenarios. Although it may not all be her own experiences she can adapt the song as if it was her or to another artist.

Her most famous track to date that one may not know is her voice is Trigga Tana aka Tana 2009 hit - What's My Name. Although she only did the hook it was number 1 for a number of weeks on Channel AKA.    

Artists such as Lauryn Hill, Jill Scott, Janelle Monae, Toni Braxton and Alicia Keys to name but a few are constantly on repeat on her ipod. As well as greats such as Aretha Franklin, Etta James and Oleta Adams.

Jonathan Woolgar draws from a wide range of musical experience to create work that is communicative without compromise.

Jonathan’s music has been performed at the Wigmore Hall, Bridgewater Hall, Royal Albert Hall and Basilica San Marco, Venice by Manchester Camerata, Onyx Brass, Aurora Orchestra and the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, as well as broadcast several times on BBC Radio 3. In 2010 he won the BBC Proms Young Composers’ Competition. His music has been recorded for commercial release by the chapel choirs of Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge and Eton College, and he also enjoys close associations with contemporary music ensembles The Hermes Experiment and Kantegh. Jonathan was Composer in Residence and composition teacher at Eton College for 2015-17 and Composer in Residence at Cambridge University Musical Society for 2016-17. His one-woman opera, Scenes from the End, ran to great acclaim in London and Edinburgh in 2016, and recent projects have included premieres at the Liszt Academy, Budapest in November 2018 and at the Wigmore Hall in May 2019. Jonathan is currently writing a new piece for the London Symphony Orchestra as part of the Panufnik Young Composers Scheme, as well as a new commission for soprano Heloise Werner which will tour the UK in late 2019/early 2020.

Whilst currently based near London, Jonathan originally hails from Pontefract in West Yorkshire. He attended Chetham’s School of Music, Manchester from 2008-10, studying composition and conducting with Jeremy Pike and Gavin Wayte. From 2010-13 he read music at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge where he graduated with First Class Honours and studied composition with Giles Swayne, before going on to study with David Sawer at the Royal Academy of Music. He is currently studying for a PhD with Julian Anderson at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

Caroline Bordignon is modern-day, female composer exploring aspects of colour, light, space, time and ways these interrelate in musical and visual expression through synaesthesia.  Her music has been performed internationally and she has collaborated with artists around the world.  Recently she composed a series of solo violin works for the new painting series ‘Mamlakah’ by Filipino artist Mart Henry Bongabong.  ‘Desert Rose,’ a series of musical compositions and paintings was first premiered in a sea-side village on the Island Garden City of Samal, Philippines.  She is currently composing and painting new works for ‘Desert Rose’ which will receive further premieres in Asia later this year.
Hailing from Canada, she now lives in England.
