This is the live recording of mine and @raul_rs set from from the 2nd Subterra party we did in August 2024. It followed an amazing live hour long ambient live set by  @joshua-stefane, which you catch the very end of at the beginning of the mix. 

We played from 11 PM to 1 AM, and although it was only the second time we've performed together, it felt like the culmination of countless Friday night sessions at home with nothing but a bottle of Nihonshu (or 3) and our wits (or lack thereof). I hope we'll get to do it again very soon but for now just sit back, relax, and let Rasbat take you on a ride.

Raul and the SBat - Live at Subterra Tokyo August 2024

"From tranquil beginnings emerges a vibrant flow, where every tone finds its place, weaving a natural balance. It’s a subtle symbiosis of energy and emotion, evolving effortlessly to create a seamless journey-one that draws you in, layer by layer, into its perfect harmony."

Last September, Simbiosis took place, an intimate and family-oriented gathering in Andalucía. This recording from Saturday afternoon features Halos (@halossound) aka of Álvaro Peinado Sánchez, a DJ and producer from Seville. Since starting as a producer in 2020, Halos has released work with labels such as Annulled Music,  संस्कार Rites, and Cellar Door, showcasing his unique concept and musical creativity in every production.

3rd edition of Simbiosis. An intimate communion of souls, in the mood for share with each other and dance under the stars.

London-based and Rinse FM resident Alicia joins the series and offers us a glimpse into the vibrant ecologies of Terra Obscura, the experimental club night she runs alongside fellow series favorite Avsluta. A rare live recording from the multitalented musician, Alicia's set captures a dynamic and thoughtful soul at play, mapping cleverly between moments of shimmering suspension and blanketing bassweight, accumulating pressure with deliberate, veteran intensity. Solid ground, in the spirit of the captured evening, from which to leap into the night beyond.

It is a pleasure to have gifted Switzerland based artist @timnah-sommerfeldt with us for the 26th episode of our Herbarium mix series! 🌱
She composed a trippy journey through ambient, dnb and grey area - a really deep and introspective ride. She created a very coherent story around her choice of plant, the European beech. 

Here's a little backstory by TImnah about her choice:
"I chose the native, beautiful European beech (Fagus sylvatica) because it serves as an important point of reference for me during my mushroom walks in the forest. Among all the trees there, it is especially the beech that always guides me.
A large mushroom community lives in symbiosis with this impressive tree. It's fascinating to observe how this natural cycle begins anew each year—from summer into winter.

~ The coexistence of the beech with fungi begins when the delicate root of a beech seedling comes into contact with the soil and the mycorrhizal fungi living within it. It only ends long after the tree's death, when the dead beech wood is completely decomposed. ~

My mix was recorded after a snowy, cold November day in the forest and is joyfully dedicated to the European beech, which gifted me a delicious dinner 🍄‍🟫🦪🌳🤍"

About Timnah
Timnah lives, works and feeds the cats in the Northwestern extremities of Switzerland. Brought up in her parents’ jazz clubs and deeply influenced by her brother’s love for dub and soundsystem culture, she started DJing just after the massively feared Millenium Bug had threatened to offset our relation to time and space. Dedicated to drawing her own map of late 20th century sonic landscapes, she spent the early 2000s exploring 90s electronics including breakbeat, triphop, ambient techno, drum&bass, house and jungle. After a short but sweet excursion into producing in the early 2010s, Timnah dedicated herself fully to spinning the wheels and transversing genres, gravitating towards her current signature sound that spans immersive sound baths and intergalactic carpet rides in half-time. Timnah is a member of Amenthia Recordings and a recent addition to the A Walking Contradiction Collective.

For our 31st podcast, we are delighted to welcome Berlin-based artist and sound designer Toxido Mask. Her track Along the Vibe, released last summer on Pregnant Void's Ember Oasis compilation, lingered in our minds with its unique, modern yet deeply emotional touch. ZUNDOKO DISCO is a DJ duo and organizing team consisting of BOW and SISINOBU. They have been organizing parties in Tohoku (north-east Japan) for 10 years and are now based in Tokyo. What started out as a simple techno B2B session has evolved into a style that is not only techno groovy, but also highly compatible with abstract hip-hop and drum’n’bass, as they incorporate music from various eras and genres. Their dope grey area sets are performed on weekend dance floors around Tokyo and in some DJ mixes on the Internet.
