This song was born at 20 Joice St, San Francisco, CA. From the first studio session it grew into something big. In my head it was me and my acoustic guitar. On paper, it became keys, electric, guitar, pedal synth, violin, collaborations with drummers, bassists, and double bassists. The last piece recorded was the scream symbolic of the pain I had bottled up finally spilling over.

Ultron Atreides’ Upward Toward the Proper Light traces the tenuous outlines formed by the distortions that manifest when technology, memory and identity begin to blur into strange new forms.

The themes are deeply personal, yet shrouded in dream logic: grief, transformation, political disillusionment, the numbness of middle age and the shedding of old truths.

Upward Toward the Proper Light offers tantalizing captured glimpses of gleaming phosphorescence diffusing through nascent fissures in the growing void.
