The song image was taken just under a year ago over the back wall of my garden. A beautiful winter morning. So the shrubs are leafless and the mist is quite prominent in a foreground darkened by the rising sun. It's an unedited photo and for this piece I guess shows how looks can be deceiving... And the camera can lie when tying imagery to an idea 💡 Movie makers make careers of it convincing us of their imagined realities... The pic is totally Terminator 2 though minus the playground and fence... haha 😆 😎

If we find an end to something for the human condition, let's make it fear. If we let go of our fear then a lot more becomes clear and beautiful about this world. As we continue in an age of constant over stimulation and a generation that has grown up to learn only that, I believe more then ever we have to try and teach younger people that it's nature that will stimulate our own internal balance and for them to realise that maybe they need to learn to not just go with the crowd of humans taking those doses of fruitless over stimulation. To avoid an actual climactic apocalypse we all need to actually synchronise with Earth and learn it. I don't believe they will find that glued to an ever more biased internet that young minds must find it difficult to navigate without switching off to what is important... Earth and themselves

I feel we find that by becoming more aware of truth that is relevant to our time and our experience. The Internet and media can be difficult to navigate as it is full of so much misinformation and power circles within society wanting to keep people in fear mode. It's easier to profit from that and retain the power of imposition. We need to start asking the right questions about our reality and stop listening to people planting imperfect truths in our heads.
We all have a slightly different version of the truth, but we only find it by asking ourselves that version honestly 🧬 That's how knowledge evolves, by combining those new truths, not by parroting what other people convinced you was true

A lot of scholars are starting to talk about how we are echoing periods that ended in destruction, but all those previous periods didn't have widespread good information like we have for people to train their mindset to the evolving reality. Yes we have the disease of misinformation to tilt away from, but the good stuff is there and more and more of us have access to it if we just look. That's the big difference this time for me... We have the power now of amazing good information to form a conscientious collective and become conscientious individuals. We don't have to be told what's up anymore and we don't have to be afraid of our changing world. As Eddie Veddar said...  "It's evolution baby" 🍼

This song imagines The Last Bite of a dying vampire, hoping that the love of his life will give him the strength to live on. As he savors everydrop of blood, in his delerium he dreams of the romantic moments of the flesh and grows increasingly weary until he succumbs to his last breath.

This song started as a project that was begun on his guitar and synth, then shelved by our master songwriter, Chris. He always gives us magic to work with, and as soon as he shared this one with the rest of Eclectic Collective, we all jumped on it.

Mark heard his part first, and set about writing some great lyrics to sing with his solid, inimitable voice. His lyrics are about a hypothetical future where we've turned to technology in search of human connection, only to realize that it has only isolated us more, and that we really already had that connection to begin with. The narration is from a future perspective, like all this has already happened, and its speaking to us from the future, almost like a warning.
The rhythm section was still absent, though, but not for long. Ken added his groovy, perfectly in the vibe drums to it next. Josh, of course followed soon after, now that he had drums to work with, by adding his fretless four string bass to the song. Now that it was sounding like a well rounded piece, Tez came through with some thrilling guitar solos that you hear throughout. JJ first added some piano, B3, and sax to the song, then later completed it with his psychedelic synth and divine voice synth that provides the "choir" you hear in there.

Now that it was all in the bag, Mark spent considerable time and effort mixing it, then turned it over to our resident pro Stephen for the mastering.

This is one of our favorite songs we've ever done, and it reminds us all of both Pink Floyd and King Crimson. This is a great example of what the team is able to do with a really solid, yet open musical seed, provided by a master composer. We hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed making it.

Faded Fortunes - Eclectic Collective

I grew up in the bay area and lived in and out of several cities  about 15 minutes from Frisco.  I had a front porch session this weekend because the sun was shinning . I always like to get that outdoor microphone tone on these types of raw recordings.

Having some fun with Charlie Parker's classic Blues for Alice.  Written in the '40s, it follows a wonderful series of changes structured around the blues.  Combines II/V/I progressions and chromatic movement while going through almost every key.  A real workout.
