The brilliant Dan van den Berg https://soundcloud.com/danarchx and I are thrilled to share a tribute to two of our favorite bands, The Mahavishnu Orchestra and Return to Forever.  These seminal bands and their musicians were so important to the merging of rock and jazz, many having come out of Miles Davis' fusion band, and featured virtuoso soloists and creativity that had not been seen before with electric music.  Dan here plays both electric and acoustic guitars, and has added so very much of himself to this modal tune.  The tune features a repeating simple lick, with dueling aggressive synth and guitar solos that these bands pioneered and took to a very high level, with John McLaughlin and Al DiMiola on guitars and Jan Hammer and Chick Corea on keyboards. Cissy Strut is a funky, New Orleans type groove recorded initially by the Meters, and then performed and recorded by so many musicians.   Scott suggested the tune and we've decided to style it after a favorite version recorded by John Scofield.  We've lined up some great great players to bring Cissy Strut to SoundCloud - Scott Nelson and Stephan "Pinner" Lipinski on guitars, Mirko "Stringburner" Borach on bass and Alpha Roots with his signature djembe sound.  Scott's got the first solo and plays sweet rhythm guitar over the track, Pinner takes the second guitar solo, and I follow on Hammond Organ.  What fun this was for all of us.

Funk Yeah!

Calaminus is back with a super funky collaboration, Catch the Drift.   Such a fine composition from the SC World Funkmaster, Jorg Calaminus.  He's done so much here and then listen to his fantastic piano/synth solo.  Over the course of 5 minutes, Jorg takes us from funk to some Hawaiian Island groove, back to the funk, to fusion, to 70's rock, and then back to the funk.  Something like that.  Maybe more.  Jorg's for years been one of the Cloud's finest creators, merging Funk, World, Fusion and Jazz.  With Jorg, rhythm and syncopation drive his music.  And taste.  There's always a surprise around the turns, and lots of layers.  Heavy music and a pleasure to be releasing this together. So great to have him back with his wonderful grooves.

Darkside - Melancoholic

In this track I was having a blast Analog Kick produced by Moog Subsequent 37 CV. I think there are fans of that kissing, deep tone you can find on numerous records from 80's and 90's, also established itself in PsyTrance and other Future genres nowadays. 

Un-mastered and under-produced, but I like to share it with exaggerated kick like I played. Will likely beef-up the music part and put in place deeper, trance-ier place in Prockgressive release soon. If you like to have an Analog Kick sample send me a PM, an/or Midi file, so I can run it by Moog (free). I can tune it to the project, as tunning Kick to the song key gives essential effect, that you cannot get by dropping a dull kick sample from any random library. 

Tune it, shape it, stretch, revert it. Push it, drop it, smash, compress it :) Was it the lyrics about Kick in one good Daft Punk song? hehe

The rest is done in Ableton same session. New Live 10 Wavetable synth and  Arturia SEM. Also felt like picking some Fender Strat strings, so it is not jealous all attention goes to Moog lately  :)

The last couple of weeks have been quite intense. We had an amazing trip to Berlin where I got the chance to perform on the stage of Berlin Philharmonie and meet with many extraordinary pianists from Enlightened Piano Radio. It was a wonderful surprise and a honor to receive "Best Solo Piano" Award for my previous album "Yet Another Love Story". And then, the next morning right after coming back from the trip, Arty and I had an interview with a local newspaper, talking about the new album "Where Giants Roam The Earth".
