Palladium is a very special piece of music for me, and it was with great pleasure that I was asked to join Barcelona's David Nederland and Tony Pola to add a synth solo to conclude the classic piece.  David is an extremely talented musician and keyboardist, who when not creating his own music is able to take classic original tunes by so many and translate them to all keyboard, working with the unlimited sounds available to him and his broad knowledge of Midi and production.  I have admired his gallery since the first time I heard his music, and David was one of the musicians I asked to join me last year on the very large SoundCloud piece Together.

Incredibly, David has reconstructed here Wayne Shorter's famous piece Palladium, which was released in 1976 by fusion band Weather Report on their Heavy Weather album.  This band included keyboardist extraordinaire Joe Zawinul, Jaco Pastorius on bass and Peter Erskine on drums.  David invited fellow Barcelonian tenor sax player Tony Pola, who fills Wayne's saxophone shoes so well, and literally did the rest of this complex piece himself - except for my final solo.  

If you know Weather Report you will know this tune, and if you don't, check them out on YouTube and iTunes.  Each musician from this band was at the pinnacle of their instrument and creativity, and together they formed some of the most exciting music of the century.  When I first came to New York after college I saw their 8:30 tour, and I also then played in a Weather Report type fusion band we named Forecast (after Weather Report).
