Her New Lover

We had a blast pulling this together.  Its a simple blues/gospel riff on organ in F, that sets up some wonderful opportunities for heavy jams over the top by Justin and Tom, two of the finest blues players I have ever recorded with.  Tom has the solos with a more treble sound, and Justin boosts his midrange and bass.  Check out their SoundCloud pages if you are not familiar.  They are bad ass, just like this tune. What fun pulling this together with three serious musicians.  You probably know Joe Bongiovanni and Justin Valente's awesome blues oriented guitars, and they stretch out here on this funk / soul / fusion groove.  Burning it up they are.  And joining us on Alto Sax is recording artist Matt Criscuolo.  Look for him at mattcriscuolo.com.  These guys just play their ass off here.  Started with an internet fusion loop, I added many keyboard lines to funk it up to the max, and we added these pros.  Joe takes the opening solos for the first four minutes, Justin follows, and we finish with all the guys trading off.  So much energy.  Positive energy here.  Put this on and relax. Gotta love the open invitation from Scotland's finest SC guitarist, fuzzmaster and executive chef Ian Tait https://soundcloud.com/ian-tait to join him on this heavy funk rocker.  Ian's signature funky sound and outstanding Wah playing were just what the doctor ordered for me, so I jumped in with some heavy synth guitar patch to try and match Ian's electricity on my keyboard.  On this track I take the first and third solos.  Damn this was fun Ian!!!  You are back with a vengeance.

When Lee Lucas posted a collaborative version of this song before Christmas https://soundcloud.com/lee-lucas/lee-lucas-mark-j-bennett-the-parting-glass, he suggested that I put out an open invitation for anyone to collaborate with the original stem. Of course, I appreciate that grafting any type of arrangement on to an acapella vocal track isn't easy but I'd welcome any approach. This is an Irish traditional song but it may well withstand a modern arrangement. The vocal stem has lots of reverb and echo on it but should you need a drier stem to work with, just message me and I can send a naked version. Also feel free to take some liberties with this should it lend itself in any other treatment. 

I raise my glass to those brave enough to listen to me tightrope-walking and also to those who might consider taking on this challenge. Cheers!

I sent a demo of the song with the basic chord sequence to Torbjørn  and Jimmy in the hope they would consider joining me for another collaboration, Torbjørn to add his exceptional keyboards, Jimmy to write lyrics and provide his powerful and distinctive vocal, luckily for me they both agreed.

Torbjørn  and Jimmy’s contributions have lifted the song to a level way beyond my original demo, thanks very much for your outstanding work guys.
