A collection of tracks I made for the "One Synth Challenge" is a contest on KVRaudio.com. Each month a free software synthesizer is chosen. Participants then use only that instrument to make all sounds for a complete track.

Not as interested this time as much in critical feedback. (Edit: oh go ahead and be critical if you like). I realize it's a bit repetitive. Simplistic bassline. Not even any drum fills. But I really like it as is. A lot. The harmonica sounded like it was saying "down the river". From there I started thinking of a river on fire that was sort of like the infinite corridor in the castlevania tv series on netflix. I might try to find a more representative picture. (Originally uploaded on 5/7/23. On 5/9/23 I went back and changed the high pass on bass and kick from 50hz down to 25 hz or so. And made drums a bit more coherent in general.)

This is my entry for the 171st edition of KVR's One Synth Challenge - this month every sound was made using Apricot, a free synth by nakst.

There are just 10 instances of the synth this time, and it's an experiment in timekeeping. Seven out of eight people can dance to this - are you one of them?

Made using Ableton Live 11, with no third party effects. Each track has an EQ8, Utility, Saturator (in clip mode) and Compressor. No returns. The master has EQ8, Compressor, Glue Compressor, Utility.

This month, it was nakst's "Apricot:" a hybrid subtractive synth/sampler in CLAP and FL formats. Only one instance of Apricot was used. Other usual rules apply (no samples and no commercial effects).

I was talking about planetary formation with some other OSC'ers (as you do) and this early violent period of Mars came up - which inspired me.

OSC 171 - All sounds developed in Apricot by Nakst including percussion. 19 tracks in Reaper with ReaComp, ReaDelay. TDR Nova EQ, Valhalla Supermassive, and Limiter 6.

bh9090 - Chapter 3

Written and created by me with a single instance of the free Apricot synth by nakst, for the monthly KVR One Synth Contest. This synth produces an amazingly rich sound!
As this synth cannot use automation with Cubase, I could only use one preset, using only a few mod wheel inputs plus reverb and EQ to change the sound.

Amaretto

Summer music for your yacht.

31 instances of Nakst's Apricot synth created all sounds.
Using Live Suite 11, built in eq, delay, Valhalla Super Massive, OTT, KHS Distortion, Compressor, and Limiter.

Yacht No. 4 (OSC 171 Apricot)

All sounds produced with the Mac version of 20 or so instances of 
Audjoo Helix synth. 

V2, added a bit more melodic structure and dynamics. Fine-tuned the mix a bit.

Only effects used were built-in Ableton live plugins as follows: 
EQ8, Saturation, Dynamic Tube, Reverb, Ping-Pong Delay, Compressor, Utility. 

In addition, TAL Tube and Yohng's W1 limiter were used on the master bus as seen in the image.

BPM: 108
About 30 Helixes were used.

Entry for the March KVR One Synth Challenge contest. All sounds made with many tracks of Schwa's Olga synthesizer using Ableton Live. Effects used: Ableton EQ, Tube, Saturation; Voxengo Tube Amp, Overtone GEQ; Molot, W1

Motes and Beams (OSC38 Olga)

All sounds in this track were created using over 30 instances of Arturia Mini V virtual synthesizer. Programmed and mixed in Ableton Live 8. 

Additional processing with Ableton Live's built in EQ, Saturation, Compressor, Reverb, Ping Pong Delay, Fxpansion's Free Compressor, Limiter 6, and Voxengo's free parametric EQ.

Sound design by me.

Feeling Free (OSC 42 Minimoog-V)

First entry for OSC contest for Dune. Something quite a bit different. Wanted to see how realistic I could get Dune to sound.

About 30 tracks using Dune BE, Ableton Live effects: Compressors, Reverb, Amp, Cabinet, EQ, Ping Pong Delay; Limiter 6, FXpansion DCAM compressor.
