*Songs With Words* — It's been three long years since I've released a set and while I don't know what I've been waiting for, luckily something about this one felt a bit different. During a week of relentless work, this was my first moment of play. As the clock struck midnight on Tuesday evening we were in the midst of a wild ride: from Diplo and Carlita at sunset, to Unders at sunrise, I had the pleasure of bridging the night amongst a sea of friends and familiar faces. Sometimes in the land of singing computers, it's nice to hear a few songs with words.

The last few months have been dark. I've struggled with a sense of myself, and whether it's ok to authentically be me.  Can I be who I am, or is a suppressed version the only one that's palatable?

As I struggled with this, a beautiful member of my community's time with us ended.  The bravery and serenity with which she handled this was an inspiration, and helped pull me towards the dawn.

When it became clear that she would not be returning from the hospital, I finalized this set to get it to her.  It remains as a celebration of our finite time on this planet.

Music so viscerally exists, and yet is completely intangible.  We can't touch music, it can only be felt. It exists in pure presence during the moment it's played. A human soul shares this property.  It plays through our bodies in the now, leaving it's essence behind. 

It's my hope that this music acts as a lantern, bringing those back to the present while they tread through their own dark night of the soul.

On Sunday April 12th as a special gift for Sandy Hill’s surprise birthday, a group of her favorite DJ friends created epic mini sets to be played on the night of the zoom easter bunny extravaganza. 
You could feel the love and magic in the air that night with smiles radiating from all of those who were present to celebrate this special moment in time. 
A beautiful reminder that music is the universal glue that keeps us together no matter what. Hope you all enjoy this historical set, when we danced as one across the 7 seas. Blended by Bloem.
