Jazz-o-Tech welcomes back Berlin pair Flat Maze for a second EP on the label following their Dick Dunker EP in 2018. This time they combine scintillating jazz and electronic sounds on Gran Canaria, a five tracker which includes remixes from Arnaud Le Texier and Dinamite.

This pair is made up of Italian Stefano Mori on electronics and guitar, and Tel-Aviv born Uri Gincel on piano. The former is well known in Berlin having played live and DJed with various collectives, and the latter toured the world as an in demand piano player before immersing himself in electronic music and collaborating with the likes of Mathew Herbert. Together they find a perfect sweet spot between instrumental jazz solos and deep techno drums and always take you on an escapist trip.

The opening track emerged from the beach of Los Palomas in Gran Canaria, where the sun and the wind of the dunes inspired Stefano to create the rhythm and bass, while Uri added the melancholic, Latin jazz piano line. The result is a gorgeous track that washes over you like a warm breeze as dancing keys bring real dynamism. 'Petardo Boy' featuring Sebastian Studnitsky on trumpet is inspired by an eccentric and explosive character from Berlin. It started with a melancholic riff by Uri before Stefano developed an electronic composition as wild as the personality of Petardo Boy himself. The drifting trumpet up top is romantic and late night, the drums are deep and the mood intimate. Last of all, 'Golden Cat' features a scratchy electronic riff inspired by Uri's cat. It's a textured centre piece around which pulsing drums, snapping hits and haunting jazz keys all move freely.

Arnaud Le Texier steps up to remix 'Gran Canaria' and flip sit into a slick and quick techno workout with majestic melodies and tender chords, while Dinamite flips 'Petardo Boy' into a menacing, broken beat and glitchy techno weapon for darkened warehouses.

This EP once again perfectly embodies the mission of our unique label.

Since its early days Jazz music has always been experimentatal, trying to contaminate, and integrate different cultures, styles and musical philosophies. Along the years, jazz movement expanded and diversified in many different genres and styles. Electronic music has also always been exprimental and the avant-garde of electronic musicians explored new technologies and new styles of music. Today the two musical frontieers meet and the contamination between jazz and electronic music will enrich both musical languages, changing the grooves but keeping the same depth and spirit of the two genres.
Jazz-o-Tech is born in order to merge tradition with modernity, improvisation and experimentation, and to create a new style: Techno-Jazz. Finally the elegant arrangements and intricated solos of jazz can develop along the modern structures of Techno and Electronica, taking the listeners on an emotional, hypnotic and intense journey, making us think that future is not that far away.

For its debut release the new label, based between Berlin and Milan, is presenting the new representatives of Techno-Jazz. In this 12' vinyl all the artists represent the new concept that Jazz-o-Tech wants to promote. The argentinian sound designer and experimental musician Paine' is presenting a strong but elegant track full of jazz quotes and pulsing with swing. The DN3 trio (DJ and producer Guido Nemola, trumpet player Cesare Dell'Anna and pianist Mauro Tre) in their track "Lee Theme" mixes elegantly original jazz improvisation and a house inspired rythmic section. Berlin based duo Flat Maze (producer Stefano Mori and pianist Uri Gincel) play with techno grooves and with experimental raw and meditative sounds, but they still leave enough room for silence and emotions. Gamapawa are our final act, probably the most Jazz of all, definitely very much focused on experimenting new forms of contamination of Jazz and Electronica. In "Nobossa" DJ and electronic producer Paine Cuadrelli, trumpet player Mario Mariotti, japanese synth player Gak Sato and bass player Walter Prati (with guest appearance by saxophonist Gianni Mimmo) are providing the finest example of a cross over electronic experimental act which leaves the listeners with plenty of musical references and inspiring moments.

“Modal Miles EP” by Cesare Dell'Anna, is the second release of the Berlin based independent label Jazz-o-Tech. 
Born in a family of musicians, classically trained trumpet player Cesare Dell'Anna is undoubtedly an  artist whose eclecticity and talent has led him to be a leader in the music experimentation and avant-gard. He has performed throughout Europe where his talent is widely aknowledged.

“Modal Miles”, the title track of the EP, is an inspiring attempt to merge jazz atmpospheres with a deep dance club beats full of historic  references  to Miles Davis, one of the greatest artists of modern music. In this fascinating EP, that ranges from Jazz to Balcaninc music, through medidative sounds, Cesare  features  some of his main artistic projects (Opa Cupa, DN3, Tax Free). 

Jazz-o-Tech's signature style is Techno-Jazz a mix between jazz and techno music, an elegant combination of improvisation, acoustic “live”  sounds and electronic music grooves. The label  wants to promote experimentation and eliminate boundaries between two forms of avant-garde, electronic music and Jazz.

The Berlin based duo Flat Maze embodies the essence of the concept of Techno-Jazz. 
Their mix between the instrumental solos of jazz piano talent Uri Gincel and the deep techno grooves of producer Stefano Mori, results in an innovative signature sound which perfectly fits the artistic manifesto of label Jazz-o-Tech.

The title track "Dick Dunker" is a smooth blend betweeen the inspiring jazz harmonizations and the  dance rhythms that create a perfect combination of sounds, addicted for radio programmings and dance clubs.
 Similarly "Room 111" and "Vollnarkose" are two powerful statements of Flat Maze vision where the harmonies and solos of Uri's piano fill the abstract spaces created by Stefano's synths and drum machines.

Flat Maze duo featured also in "White Gardenia vol 1", the first vinyl EP released by Jazz-o-Tech that has been supported by:  Rai Radio 3 (IT), Jet Set Tokyo (JP), Avopolis Music Network (GR), Studio Brussel (BS), 808 Radio (SP), Radio Krimi (FR).

Born in Tel-Aviv, jazz pianist Uri Gincel came to Berlin in 2009 and quickly became one of the most in demand piano players on the scene, Uri toured the world with many projects, including "Uri Gincel Trio” and “Bonaparte”. 
Only in the last couple of years Uri started working with electronic music, and has recorded and preformed with Bruno Pronsato and the electronic duo “Tyoma", combinating their art with important collaboration like Matthew Herbert.
Stefano Mori is an italian music producer, visual artist and live performer based in Berlin. With his solo project, Stefano also known as Elephant Kodex, release under the independent German Label Fucksklang record and play around Berlin with different dj collectives (Mechatronica, Drei Groschen Disko).
Jazz-o-Tech's is a new record label based between Berlin and Milan.
The label's signature style is an elegant combination of improvisation, acoustic “live” sounds and electronic music grooves mixed between jazz and techno music, promoting experimentation and eliminating  boundaries between two forms of avant-garde, electronic music and Jazz.

JOT003: Flat Maze - Dick Dunker EP

After his debut track “Messicho” on White Gardenia Vol.1, Dutch producer, photographer and drummer Robert Repko  is ready to come back to release on Jazz-O-Tech with  an adventurous jazzy trip, combining both acoustic and electronic vibrations.
Future and past blend in a tribadelic mix of sexy, mystic and melancholic sounds, embedded in a transcendental feast of beats that characterize  this 4 tracker EP called “Trop Fonk”. 
Inspired by rhythmic based music, Duke Zilla was drawn to jazz, funk and african beats while playing as a drummer with different bands from an early age; by shifting to producing, he applied a more electronic feel as well as a luscious club element. 
His debut EP tells a cinematic like multi-layered story of space travelling in hypnotic soulful atmospheres. Always with a drum driven approach, providing the backdrop to imaginative underground sounds.

JOT004: Duke Zilla - Trop Fonk EP

GaMaPaWa is an Italian techno-jazz quartet founded by three of the most talented musicians in the Milan's music scene: japanese composer and theremin player Gak Sato, electronic music professor and bass player  Walter Prati and italo/argentinian DJ, composer and sound designer Painè Cuadrelli. 
The trio has then been joined by Mario Mariotti’s versatile trumpet for an experimental quartet which promotes the re-discovery of free jazz and contemporary improvisation blended with the electronic grooves finely shaped by the musical talent of Painè. What comes out is a fluid, free and creative jazz with a touch of techno, reminiscent of Miles Davies' electro-jazz lessons and  evoking "Bitches Brew" subtle atmosphere.

Story Telling is the first EP by GaMaPaWa, each of the five tracks in the EP have a distinctive style and identity starting from the title track whose relaxed groove leaves plenty of space for the virtruoso solos of the Sato-Prati-Mariotti trio. Gianni Mimmo, another legend of Italian jazz, joins the trio playing his sax for the hypnotic grooves and textures designed by the band in “Max Dub” and “Nobossa” which pave the way for the final double act “Archi” and bonus track “Archi” remixed by Painè Cuadrelli.
The tracks have alredy been supported and aired by the Italian National Radio channel Radio Rai.

Jazz-O-Tech is proud to announce the second chapter of its limited edition vinyl release "White Gardenia": a format that combines deep tech electronic grooves with the mystic, intense and intricate atmospheres of jazz music.

The A side of the compilation starts with "Eshe" a track by the dutch producer Duke Zilla, a perfect opener for the vinyl with its funky, dreamy, and tribadelic vibes, followed by "Modal Miles" by the Italian trumpet player Cesare Dell'Anna (remixed by DN3), a cool deep tech track full of smoky jazz quotes of the almighty Miles Davis himself. "Dick Dunker" by the Berlin Based duo Flat Maze closes the first half, and it's a great example of what we call Techno-Jazz the perfect mix between cutting hedge techno sounds and experimental jazz
piano.

The B side is meditative and musically very dense, with the talented duo of newcomers Key Clef on synths and Riccardo Nebbiosi on sax presenting “Angel Walk to the Sea” a beautiful trip into a poetic and progressive territory, which smoothly leads to the intricate and experimental fluid jazz grooves of "Story telling" by the Italian electronic jazz band Gamapawa, which closes the compilation.

Jazz-o-Tech is proud to present Plastik.Soldiers an avant-gard music collective. binding together jazz with techno, electronica and hiphop. Founded by Luc van Ruler, always guided by his brother in arms Coen Witteveen, Plastik.Soldiers here to serve the good, on the frontline of the battle for new quality music.
In this new single and EP “Short Days” they propose their idea of Techno-Jazz which sounds big, bold, danceable, dynamic, explosive, edgy, trippy and transcendental. Their music is influenced by 70's jazz-fusion as well as some oriental atmospheres and some pop glitches, all deeply rooted on some solid and chunky grooves.
The title track “Short Days” it's a sure hit with its sax hook and techno-pop arrangement. It expresses the new concept proposed by Plastik.Soldiers a techno-jazz which is fun but also “dense” in musical qualitiy and ideas. With the track comes a great video with a strong visual character which is the perfect complement to the music of Plastik.Soldiers.

Jazz-O-Tech Records introduces a new release series on the label by the name of Black Gardenia.
If the White Gardenia series combines mystic jazz music with deep tech electronic grooves, Black Gardenia’s intends to associate it with the roots of techno. The first output “Black Gardenia Vol. 1” is composed by Berlin-based duo BEAT MOVEMENT.

The duo presents an unusual, psychedelic and moving techno jazz EP in collaboration with techno pioneer Sunil Sharpe, Italian saxophonist and composer Gianni Mimmo and the jazz quartet Gamapawa.

Black Gardenia is a mesmerizing aesthetic sound experience, taking the listener on abstract journeys and into cinematic sceneries. The title track “Silent Rain” opens the A-side with a soft and emotional fusion of drones and saxophone, followed by the sovereign and psychedelic slow groove of the track “Aphex Twin shot my neck”. The B-side is a dancefloor killer combination between Sunil Sharpe’s intelligent techno remix of “Silent Rain” and Gamapawa’s featuring track “Untitled Reconstruction”, where drums and saxophone reach the speed of 150 bpm.

T.U.N. project, by mixing the experiences of all band members, wants to create a sound which is a blend of electronic music, refined harmonic progressions and improvisation, creating a very distinctive sound in order to reach a wide and mixed audience. 

The trio was founded in 2018 and is publishing it's first EP manifesto with Jazz-O-Tech.

JOT009 Preview | T.U.N Torino Unlimited Noise - Jason

Antares Mates are Key Clef (Synths-machines) and Riccardo Nebbiosi (Sax). Their collaboration is born in 2014, purely from their willingness to share a common passion and create something new for both of them, after many years of friendship and artistic discussions. In this project the use of an acoustic instrument such as the saxophone is transformed by merging it in a texture of electronic sounds and then modulated in interaction with other electronic instruments, rather than as a solo instrument.
“La Ballata di Antares” their first EP represents their willingness to filter, transform, and abstract both the electronic instruments and the saxophone itself, creating a new immaginary planet where “The Ballad of Antares” deploys all its beautiful power. This work is the result of a 72 hours recording session during winter days in the windy East Berlin, like two hermits searching for a a new and enhanced self-consciousness.

Torino Unlimited Noise is an homage to the city of Turin, to it's sounds, its industrial soul and its underground soul which pushes us all to a more human dimension and to a serch for a soulfoul beauty.

Milan and Berlin label Jazz-o-Tech continues on its mission to imbue the most cutting edge electronic music with the freeform creative spirit of jazz with a new EP from Healing Force Project. The Italian offers up two terrific originals while stndrd and T Kode remix.

Since 2010, Healing Force Project has established himself as someone who explores the outer edges of techno with his own atypical, anarchic and spontaneous creations. Coming on labels like Acido, Firecracker, Bedouin and in album format on amenthia recordings, his music always layers up free-jazz melodies and drums into intoxicating sonic landscapes unlike any other. Because of that, he is a perfect fit for this label where technology and improvisation, innovation and tradition all come together to make exciting new forms.

Exquisite opener 'Parallel Universe' is a spacious affair with tumbling drums, loose hits and splashes of cymbals run through with distant toms. Everything is off grid and live sounding, with uneven chords played over the top to make for something beautifully unusual and thoughtfully cosmic. As the winding rhythms unfold and the drums grow more propulsive, so does the element of mystery and intrigue.  

Stepping up to remix is T Kode, who is known for his complex and powerful sounds in the booth and the studio and has released on the likes of Blackwater. He layers in a rugged bassline that moves things forwards with real purpose, but the off kilter keys, staccato effects, chords and sci-fi sounds keep things thoroughly avant-garde and unusual.

The second original, 'Temporal Pole', again suspends you in an astral plane but is a little darker and more paranoid. Noodling keys drift in and out, cymbals are gently feathered, wooden hits add movement and the whole ting is in constant movement, changing shape and leading you further down the rabbit hole.

Subsist and 91 Records associate stndrd then remixes and delivers his trademark powerful emotions in a rumbling deep techno version that gets you in a state of hypnosis and keeps you there with eerie key motifs and dancing drums.

This is a perfect fusion of two very different worlds into one fascinating and unconventional new sound.

Temporal Pole

JOT012: Healing Force Project - Temporal Pole EP (Incl. stndrd, T Kode remixes)

Avant-garde French trio Bada-Bada step up to Jazz-o-Tech with a standout new 8 track EP titled simply “II”
that finds fascinating new emotion where jazz and techno collide. It features six originals plus remixes by
Fabrizio Rat and Distant Echoes.
Bada-Bada consider themselves a Trans-Jazz band who create with a freeform musical discourse that is
heavily reliant on improvisation. They have a sound that is haunting and emotional, textural and diverse,
and that blurs the lines between the organic and the synthetic. Explosively mixing keys, synths, sax and
trumpet with very modern studio techniques they channel different influences from Steve Reich to Radio-
head to David Bowie, both in the studio and at their impressive live gigs.
Opener 'R4G3' is a blistering track with suspensory chords keeping you on edge while manic drum playing
hurries along. Add in the squealing synths and brass and you have a brilliantly intense workout. 'Venus' is a
more laid back track with more loose drums, and again exquisite horns sounds and a dense mix of synths
that are truly electrifying. 'Bada-Bada' strikes a more thoughtful and reflective note, with lingering chords
drifting off to the cosmos next to sombre sax, and 'Maria João' continues the reflective vibe with a quiet and
reflective piece of jazz sax with subtle piano accompaniments that builds to a big wall of intense sound, fizz-
ing synths and pounding drums. 'Shiva' takes you on a freeform trip to spine tingling heights with textured
synths and manic trumpets all speaking of real pain and loss and finally, 'TLLNN Part 2' washes over you
with mellifluous drum grooves, idyllic chords and a real sunset vibe that is powered by a tight rhythm sec-
tion.
Pianist and techno producer Fabrizio Rat fuses his classical piano with contemporary techno in fascinating
new ways on labels like this one as well as 24H Records. His remix of 'R8G3' is a powerful, stripped back
techno jazz roller with forceful kicks and plenty of atmosphere in the wandering sax sounds up top.
Dystopian label associate and Out-er co-owner Distant Echoes appeared on this label's vital THIS IS TECHNO
JAZZ. VOL 1 compilation and follows up with a superb remix here. It is awash with rueful chords and organic
pianos and has a perfectly airy dub techno groove that floats you through space.

This EP is a collaboration between finnish artists Aki Himanen (trumpet, electronics) and Aleksi Kinnunen (drums) with remixes from PEG and Polygonia, and again fuses both jazz and techno sensibilities to come up with superbly forward looking and sleek new sounds.

Aki Himanen and Aleksi Kinnunen are jazz musicians and techno producers who combine jazz's spontaneity and electronic music's dark soundscapes. Using generative techniques and interacting machines, they have been working together since 2019 and released debut album Scapes earlier in 2020. Now they are back with more of their cinematic sound and dystopian landscapes on this fine new EP.

Opener 'Dawn Drops 'is a lush piece that sweeps you off your feet with suspensory synths and floating trumpet lines rising out into a one sky. Rubbery drums roll below to keep you tethered to a grover and the whole thing is a luxuriant and soothing piece. The beautifully dark 'Plastic Rain' builds on live drums and pulsing bass, with sombre trumpets bringing a forlorn mood as hits and rim shots are scattered through the air.

A club-ready remix of this one comes from Spanish techno artist PEG, an associate of the Dynamic Reflection label who fuses techno, ambient, dark beats and techno old and new into his music. Jazz-o-Tech is a label that draws on the rich heritage of two of the most visionary and experimental genes in music: jazz and techno. Taking inspiration from the freeform creative nature of those two musical worlds, artists on the label mix tradition with modernity, improvisation with experimentation, and create a new sound known as techno-jazz. Modern music needs to be ambitious. It must aim to deliver a musical message which is one step beyond what has already been heard.
