Quickly becoming one to watch in the techno circles, John Shima is making waves with his fresh approach to that classic Detroit sound. His contribution for boe is nothing short of a stunning representation of underground electronic music.

The main track Prototype is an industrial house track machined with grit and mechanics. It’s a sonic ode to industry: blueprinted in the motor city and forged in Sheffield. It’s heads down for the dance floor with shimmering metallic overtones and a side order of robot jack.

Ancient Skies points more towards Chicago stylings with shades of Casual and Relief syncopated basslines and swing. John manages to capture the melancholy party vibe of those early records with crystal clear production skills and neat arrangements.

Transducer is groovy experimental techno that could have easily sat on the much revered Objet D’Art compilation from ‘94. Dreamy, fluid and pumping. It’s electronic music that will stand the test of time.

Rounding off the EP in fine style is True Distance. A stunning ambient piece with deep pads and swirling melodies that complement and round of the EP perfectly.

Laurent Garnier might have been doing his thing for about 30 years - a very good thing at that - but he's showing no signs of stepping back anytime soon. 

The French techno maestro spent last year touring Europe and North America, whether that be playing Coachella festival in California or the now-closed Trouw in Amsterdam, as well as finding time to release on Hypercolour, MCDE and Berlin-based 50 Weapons. 

His release on Hypercolour included Enchanté, a beaming, click-clacking techno cut that's about to be released again as part of his forthcoming album, 'Home', on F Communications.

After 1 good year of hiatus, Room With A View is back in full effect with a very special 3 tracker by Kyodai, a duo that has been gathering serious momentum after highly celebrated releases on Local Talk, Exploited, Freerange or Pokerflat to name a few.

The famous brother pair has proven to be working hard in the last years recording, remixing & touring extensively. Reknown for their energitic live performances & to have deliver tracks & remixes that have been played by the Who's who of the global House scene, Kyodai have decided to choose RWAV to deliver some very personal tracks. In 2013 already, they appeared on our label with the uplifting "What You Give" that became on of the key tracks of the live sets of the last 2 years.

Enjoying a long 15 years friendship with Dairmount and a common love of hybrid tracks loaded of musicality, Javi & Luis decided to lock themselves in studio last winter inspired by the idea to be the artist chosen to relaunch the label in 2015. The title Times Fly symbolises the longevity of friends that went through 2 decades of creation & exchange.

And the result has been as surprising as the pair shaped up a very hypnotic & tribal red line with these new tunes. The title track "Times Fly" has been recorded in a few hours on a full moon night in their berlin studio, managing to induce a perfect balance of melancholy & tribal rhythms. Quite different of their usual sound signature, the track got everything to conquer the hearts of many different dj's & listeners this summer. "Sacred Ritual" is born of the idea of creating a special tool for Panorama Bar (where the pair just played before their studio time in january) and focusing on the power of drums & percussions. Finally, "You Know It" is reminiscent of their classic Kyodai sound epitomised by their hit Breaking with filtered basslines & catchy samples. The track has been one of the big crowd pleasers of their recent live sets.

With Pan-Pot’s eagerly anticipated album, 'The Other’ on the horizon, it's only fitting that we begin early with a glimpse of what’s to come. 

'The Other One' is the first of two EPs from the duo's upcoming long player and with the two carefully selected tracks; 'Pina' and '808 Nirvana', it's exactly what you come to expect from the duo. 

'808 Nirvana' is a white knuckle ride laced with fast paced stabs, shakers and snares while meteoric rises carry you into deep space. 'Pina', aptly titled after the newborn addition to the family, is a bundle of energy. It constantly grows larger and more complex before finally unleashing a fierce, sonic blast that wouldn’t seem out of place on the soundtrack to a Hitchcock film. In perfect Pan-Pot fashion. 

'The Other One' is the perfect teaser ahead of the full album release, with both tracks the epitome of the Pan-Pot sound.

Matt Tolfrey returns to his Leftroom imprint on the 7th August with a new single entitled
‘That’s The Way’.

2015 has been a great year for Matt Tolfrey with him marking a momentous point in his career with the fabric 81 mix compilation plus a release from Skream’s Of Unsound Mind imprint. This year will also see the Leftroom imprint mark a milestone ten years actively releasing material and here we see the label’s founder deliver some fresh original content ahead of the celebrations.

Title cut ‘That’s The Way’ kicks things off and sees Matt Tolfrey deliver a raw acid tinged workout fuelled by intricately evolving rhythms, squelching 303 licks, sporadic vocal hooks and hypnotic pad lines. The ‘Instrumental Mix’ follows and as the name would suggest lays the focus solely on the upfront rhythmic and synthesized elements.

Lastly to round off the package Matt delivers ‘Lost In Space’, first heard exclusively on the recent fabric 81 mix comp, an ethereal B-Side number employing dreamy soundscapes, bumpy broken rhythms, soft stab sequences and a throbbing acid bass undercurrent to round off the single brilliantly.

YOKTO are back on Compost Black with another distinctive record, raw and dusky, somewhere between romantic house and techno.

Hello together,
we are Jürgen Graf and Christian Nainggolan.
Both of us have a long standing interest in electronic music in general and electronic dance music in particular. YOKTO tracks are solo creations by myself and some tracks have been done in cooperation with Christian. The studio of YOKTO is sited in my home in the countryside close to the french border in Saarland (Germany).
The first YOKTO EP released on Compost Black can be described as „modern house with vintage attitude!“.
Our second EP released on Lossless was more like "psychedelic, modern house with a touch of class!".
Now, it's on you to describe our third release on Compost Black ;) We find it sounds like "raw, romantic house to the border of techno!".
