SWR Episode 63 - "Humanitarian Projects" with Norman Vilches

The latest single from Starbound Renegade! My gf turned me on to some goth rock and post punk, which inspired me to make a track in that vein. I wrote the lyrics based off our own struggles with OCD and overthinking. The vocals were programmed in Synthesizer V Studio Basic using the Solaria free edition. Music and production in FL Studio. Cover art done in Photoshop featuring the "Stoned Fox" meme which is an OCD related inside joke between my gf and I.

Wash Away The Pain - The Remix

I remember being introduced to Air in college. My roommate and drummer in my band had a friend that gave him a treasure trove of indie music that ran the gauntlet from Stephen Malkmus to Einstürzende Neubauten to The Unicorns to so many other things. I was enthralled. 

Air in particular stood out to me. It was the perfect application of groove, just applied in a way different way than what I'd ever heard. Dreamy and atmospheric and groovy and just amazing. I bought several CDs online, and Air's music became a backdrop for many study sessions and chill nights.

I love La femme d'argent; it's the perfect opening to a perfect album. The bassline has always struck me because it plays like a lead line. This was a lot of fun to explore; I hope I did it justice!

Jeff Finley's current music project is Starbound Renegade. His influences are pop punk, emo, synthwave, retrowave, futuresynth, trap, funk, hip hop, and EDM.
