This is a song about something as old as time, the loneliness after a breakup. The sudden emptiness of being thrust into a cold world full of desperation and depression, feeling you can't go on alone. Memories of a past life of being single and surviving but feeling that you are remembering someone else, not yourself because you know in your heart that you cannot go on without her.

( I wrote this during a time in my life where I am truly happy with my life and relationship, going on 15 years with the woman of my dreams. This track is fictional and in no way reflects my relationship status, yet I, just as some of you, can imagine what it would be like to lose half of yourself and is a hell I pray none of us ever have to experience).

Welcome to my page, my peers, associates, friends, and musical family. I'm a lifelong, multi-instrumentalist musician who records prolifically and joyfully. You'll hear me play guitar, bass (regular four string, and four and five string fretless), mandolin, banjo, keys (piano, organ, synth), lap slide, sitar, and sing on my recordings here. I've been in a few dozen bands in my life, playing everything from bluegrass, jazz, rock, jam band, reggae, funk, afrobeat, Middle Eastern, traditional Irish, singer/songwriter, pop/covers, to experimental/avant garde. 
  Since I found SoundCloud a couple years ago, I've found many talented, creative people with whom to create music. However, in the summer of '23 I formed a band called The Eclectic Collective with some of my favorite musicians I've met through here. It started as a loose collective of musicians and coalesced into a core group of musicians who find other musicians with whom we'd like to make music, then run their songs through our process, and in effect add a full band. That core of The Eclectic Collective includes Tez (Llanpsych), J.J. Terrel, Ken (K2 and the Three), Stephen (Texmex Shaman), Chris (cgmaness), and Mark (mistermark). A couple of other musicians are frequent collaborators, as well, including Artur of Surfers Like Us, and Steve Vervaet of Steve's World. More recently, we've been joined by Carl of The Beautiful Dark fame. 
  The magic of music is amplified exponentially by each person adding to it. So, we really try to add our sorcery all kinds of music from all kinds of artists. Sometimes, we keep it within the group, but a lot of what we do is collaboration with other artists. Therefore these days, 100% of what I do is collaboration, within the group or with other artists on the side.
  I, and we, are also available for hire if you have a song or lyrics and you really want to add bigger instrumentation or a band and good production to it.

I also really like and am influenced by traditional Iranian, Palestinian, Indian, Sri Lankan, Sudanese, Mauritian, Somalian, Egyptian, West African, and Syrian music. I welcome anyone who plays non-western music to contact me for a collaboration, too.
 I'm overjoyed to have found my community on SoundCloud. This is a truly unique forum where everyone is sincerely trying to build each other up. The profoundly supportive and positive SoundCloud community has really opened up an exciting new world of collaboration for me. That is the main reason I'm in the Cloud, actually, to connect with other musicians and make music that I enjoy listening to, and hopefully others do, as well. I am ALWAYS looking to collaborate with interesting musicians, mostly though BandLab, which is where I record almost exclusively. It's a solid, free digital audio workstation hub where you can share recording projects, even if it's not where you make your recordings.
  Everything I do is live instrumental, not programmed, and using no computer beyond my phone. That's not to say that I would be opposed to using that kind of tool, it's just not my preferred medium with which to paint. If you like my music, please share it. Hi, I’m Krissie 💜 I have high functioning autism, which I proudly call a gift, though sometimes it drags me into beautifully bonkers territory. I played saxophone for over ten years (seriously, I could wail).. until I got ill and my arms went on strike. But music? It stuck around. So now I do what I can, I write, engineer, and produce my own songs, shaping them with whatever magic I’ve got left, plus a few emotional plot twists. All my life, I’ve had to hide who and what I am. I’ve never been what the world calls “normal.” As I say in 'I Don’t Write Songs "I Survive"', my brain just isn’t wired the way it should be. I’ve been called weird, not right in the head, bonkers, even crazy. So I learned to mask, to shrink, to pretend. But here.. here, I get to breathe. To be.

And it’s not just the music. It’s the comments, the replies, the strange and sparkling conversations where I finally feel like I don’t have to filter myself. I can be full volume, full chaos, full heart, and somehow, that’s not just accepted, it’s welcomed.

I mostly do collaborations with other musicians and add my original lyrics and vocals to others music. I don't have anything against AI, I believe it can be a useful tool in the music making industry. Hello! I’m a university professor of history who enjoys playing guitar and piano/keyboard, and occasionally composing — unpretentiously, just for fun. I’ve been here for at least 10 years, but only recently have I started using the platform for something other than just external digital storage.
Most of my recordings (made with a KorgD8, Audacity, and more recently Reaper for MIDI and the Spitfire Audio libraries) are entirely homemade and decidedly imperfect. And yet, I think that lately I’ve learned to do something a bit more - and better - also thanks to greater commitment.
My music includes old songs (all written back in the last century; here I’ve only shared the ones I’ve reworked in recent years) as well as both old and new instrumentals — usually in several versions, some of which eventually disappear because they’re simply unlistenable.

Thanks for stopping by and giving something a listen; in the description you’ll often find explanatory notes or translations of the lyrics.
Here I’ve discovered a community of talented musicians and songwriters, and plenty of beautiful music to enjoy. Whenever I like, comment, or repost a track, it’s always the result of attentive listening. For the same reason, I’m not interested in trading empty “likes” without real engagement, and I won’t reply to messages from would-be promoters — follower counts don’t matter to me in the slightest.
