I’m a songwriter.  I don’t play an instrument or sing very well myself.   I collaborate with singer songwriters.  Sometimes I solo-write songs.  In that case, I have demonstration recordings produced since I’m not a musician.   My preferred music genres are country (mostly outlaw and red dirt), southern rock and Trop Rock.

A fourth generation family band in a self-described folk-grass musical style from the past, with stories for today, connecting to the future. Common Threads has been influenced by a rich heritage of Canadian fiddle tunes and Irish, Scottish and English folk ballads, traced to 19th century ancestors. Four generations of troubadours from the Clayton and Bethard families, in Carter Family style, have written original music and performed throughout the United States and Canada. Solo, duo, trio and group performances provide ever changing configurations of voices and strings -  fiddle, autoharp, guitar, banjo, mandolin and perhaps more! The acoustic music created by Common Threads is based on themes exploring nature and the land, and of the struggles and joys of the families on it - songs about cowboys, pioneers, farmers, miners and hobos. Through the lens of music, let's find our common threads.

If there’s one word that’s used to describe The Whistling Hounds (formerly known as Harper and Lee) more often than any other, it’s unique. Blending Folk/Americana roots with an edgy, modern Indie vibe, Harper and Lee produce a sound that is noticeably distinct, yet welcoming and familiar. By mixing an upbeat, road-trip worthy timbre similar to The War on Drugs with emotional, thought-provoking songwriting qualities reminiscent of The Band of Horses, The Whistling Hounds’ repertoire is sure to have something for everybody.

As a fan at a Whistling Hounds concert, you can expect to experience a broad range of emotions as they employ an unmistakable approach to performing that is equal parts calming, invigorating, moving, and upbeat. This well-rounded, emotionally diverse performance delivery is likely due to the fact that behind the captivating melodies, hypnotizing guitar licks, soulful vocals, and undeniable songwriting abilities stand a trio of hard-working, down-to-earth, approachable musicians. 	
	
Lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist, and percussionist Lee is a naturally gifted musician and performer, having only begun playing music at the start of their first tour in 2018. Lee is a force, playing guitar, kick drum, and tambourine all at once while maintaining a soul-tapping vocal performance night after night.	
	
Lead guitarist and back-up vocalist Harper has been playing for over 20 years. For Harper, music is a full-body experience. His emotional and melodic guitar playing along with his movement and stage presence make him both invaluable and a joy to watch. Behind the scenes, Harper teams up with Lee to shoulder a bulk of the group’s songwriting as well.	
	
Multi-instrumentalist and back-up vocalist Walt is the newest member of the group. Walt brings a lot to the table as a seasoned performer who focuses on synthesizer and harmony vocals, with plans to diversify the band’s sound by adding mandolin and harmonica in the future. In addition, Walt has top-notch instincts, adding depth where it’s needed. “The first time I saw Harper and Lee live I knew it was something I wanted to be a part of. These two are immensely talented, and It has been a joy to work with them creatively to find places where I can add depth and variety.”  	
	
The band is currently taking their first break from touring in nearly two years and is continuing the excitement by announcing that they have added a new member and that their debut album “White Water Rising” is set to release this summer. This is definitely an act you won’t want to miss.
