The eclectic tastes of British producer and DJ, Aubrey Fry span through the electronic music spectrum and earlier this year he released a stunning single ‘The Loop’. Now, Alex Banks and Charlie May deliver powerful remixes of the track.

Hailing from Brighton, Alex Banks is a DJ & Producer who explores deeper sounds influenced by jungle, broken beat, dubstep and techno. He consistently pushes the envelope with an adept technical skill and sound design which commands repeated listens. His remix combines a driving beat and futuristic synth samples primed for the dancefloor. The second remix comes from Producer Charlie May, who creates a deeper, industrial soundscape and builds to two suspenseful breakdowns.

Man Ray - summer 88 - EP, Peter Hook and producer Phil Murphy creating acid house tracks evoking the style & euphoria felt during that epic “Summer of Love” at The Haçienda nightclub. Revisiting the staple sounds of the period with a modern twist, the duo used analogue technology to recreate precisely the sounds belting through the summer of ’88. A mixture of classic Roland synths & drum machines were employed to simulate the early acid house vibes with samples only being used for sound effects, making both tracks feel naturally timeless.

“We’re On It” presents itself as a twisting laid back groove, permeated with references to early Detroit & Chicago house music and the classic elements of the lighter side of acid. Hook recalls his memories of the era spoken word style, as the track bobs & weaves and breaks up & down with a pulsating bassline, elegant synths & a cooly defined grace.

Quivver (aka John Graham) is a true musical innovator, a legend in electronic music circles, renowned as being one of the scenes most essential creators since the early 1990s, whose musical palette is intensely inspired and musically diverse. His On & On contribution to Bedrock XX and Mumbo Jumbo/ This Was (BEDDIGI93) were chart-topping, critically acclaimed highlights and his 2019 return to the label with the One Darker EP is yet another exceptional artistic statement. 

As expected from one of the worlds finest electronic producers, innovation flows freely with Quivver productions and One Darker comes in two distinct flavours. In its original 4:4 form One Darker builds steadily with precise programming, inspired intricate layering and powerful groove development, all interlocking perfectly to unleash an utterly engrossing energetic flow that swoops and soars with masterfully controlled abandon. 

Then, in flawless artistic contrast, Quivver shifts into his recently revived (with his remix of Sashas Rooms after a 20-year hiatus) alternate Skanna guise, giving him the freedom to experiment with a spacious, immense, gravity-defying 130bpm drum & bass take on One Darker witness a true master at work. LNOE is closing off the year with another collaboration from Sasha, this time alongside rising star Franky Wah. This release gives a taste of the musical ties between the two and paints a unique picture across the 4-track EP. Franky Wah has been making a name for himself releasing on labels such as Afterlife and Ministry Of Sound amongst others.

‘Haunted’ the title track shows instantly that the combination of these two artists is certainly not a gimmick and sets the tone for the release. Franky commenting on their collaboration says: "Sasha has played a huge part in putting me on the map by supporting my music, so it’s an honour to be able to collaborate on this project with an artist that I’ve always looked up to. This EP is a perfect amalgamation of both of our sounds and I’m really proud to get this one out.”

The raw break-beats drum sounds which we all know and love, paired with modern melodic synthesizer work and dreamy vocals make up the recipe for this standout record. The sonic character oscillates between these energetic grooves and dreamlike states. The release will feature four original collabs, all defining another perspective on the sound between Sasha and Franky.

My passion for house music started from an early age from first having vinyl decks as a teenager in the late 90s. Have always loved the progressive house genre from aspiring djs such as the likes of sasha, Digweed, Anthony papa, dave seaman and quivver. Have recently started djing again in the new era of digital which has took some getting used to, and no I don't use the sync button which you can probly tell sometimes in my sets 😂😂 anyhow
