The Last Frost of Winter

An instrumental tribute to my favourite three piece rock band.
Formed in 1968, they were at the top of their game as musicians and songwriters and had a massive following across the globe. Currently they are ranked fifth in the U.S. for the most consecutive gold or platinum studio album sales by a rock band, only behind The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Kiss and Aerosmith.
I had the pleasure of seeing them play live many times during their lengthy career and it always amazed me how three guys could make such an amazing sound. They finally called it a day with the sad passing of their drummer in 2020. The song title is a reference to the place where they were formed and to the lyrics of one of their early songs, but who were they?

I’m just so enthralled with Jonnie’s versatility and his readiness to always try new sounds, new genres. He really likes challenges and being pushed away a little from his comfort zone. When I showed him some songs from some bands I love, like The Rasmus, Evanescence and Paramore, he was very enthusiastic about trying to go for something like that. I tried to do my part with the vocals too, but well, neither of us can help being ourselves in the end, so this is the result: “More.” I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed working on it.

“More” is about never learning lessons in love, about our human nature, which always asks for more, even when we know we’ll end up getting hurt.

(ENG) Jimena Arroyo is a singer-songwriter from La Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina. At the age of 19, she won a car in a singing competition on a TV show in her country. From that moment on, she started performing live and worked as a touring singer in a cover band for over ten years. After that, she decided to focus on her original songs, so she started working with very talented musicians, composers and producers from all over the world. She is also the lead singer of Excorde. She's been nominated for several international music awards. In 2021 she won the International Singer-Songwriters Association Award for Best International Female Vocalist.  She released her first solo album "But First We Burn" with producer CJ Teffner, which won Intl. Female Album of 2022 - Gold by ISSA.
