c'è in giro da tempo una nuova 'musica assoluta', astratta, che sta fra la cosiddetta 'ambient music' e la 'drone music', nei pressi dei cosiddetti 'soundscape' o, meglio ancora, degli 'innerscape' .. a volte ha tratti più 'cameristici', o addirittura per strumento solista, a volte è più 'sinfonica' .. a volte usa solo sonorità 'sintetiche', a volte invece anche strumenti 'tradizionali' .. ha antecedenti illustri, sia nella cosiddetta musica 'classica', diciamo storica, sia nella 'popular music' e nel jazz .. a quella soprattutto io guardo

First track from 𝗢 𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘀 𝘂𝗻𝗲 (what unites us) is a new album by Svayam, conceived and recorded as one of his concerts, a relaxation guided by words and music, a soundtrack for a moment of meditation and self-study.
Its structure brings an invitation to a moment to close your eyes, find a comfortable posture, accept the freedom of the first flute notes, to then be wrapped in these sound waves that, even from a distance, unite us, make us closer to the Whole. The disc ends with Sitar, in Raga Yaman, sealed with Bansuri.

𝗢 𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘀 𝘂𝗻𝗲 has a physical edition limited to 25 copies, on cardboard painted with intuitive watercolor.

PROGRAM NOTE
I wrote this fanfare for my wedding. It was designed to take advantage of the surrounding balcony and resonant acoustics of Middlebury College’s Mead Chapel in Middlebury, Vermont, where we were married. The title of this piece was originally Wedding Fanfare. Since I think this piece could work well for concerts or other types of events, I shortened the title to Fanfare.

João 𝗦𝘃𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗺, is a multi instrumentalist, music producer and yoga student / teacher. Connected with the term singer-songwriter but also diverse genres, such as music for meditation, electronic, trip-hop, ambient, free form music, and others.
Lover of nature, passionate world observer, into spiritual questioning and meditation practices.

 Music is one of multiple ways of living fully, being whole and complete, immersed on the vastness of the world. At each music note we can redeem something more from our essence, spread it, echo it, give, receive and be. Svayam is a moment of meditation guided by sound, and it’s offered as an opportunity to be who we really are, to take from the inside what escapes our instant and automatic sensibility. João Sousa guides this voyage - personal, but collective - with a guitar, voice and bowls.
Each body touched by sound is a moment of unique love,
an inexhaustible source of energy. To create with sound is to open doors to the earth, to touch the water, feel the air and transform with fire… For a moment we understand the act of creation, we are that moment, undulating in the ethereal, taking off from matter. Each time Svayam happens, we connect profoundly with humankind, with life, with the cosmos. Let us be all and nothing, here and now, everyone and none.
