Konduku (@kondukukonduku) is Dutch-born but with a proud Turkish heritage that colours the music he makes. It's impactful techno but with curious time signatures and minimalist percussive that draws on the rhythms of his ancestral homeland. As the son of a musician and Balkan folklore dancer, he was always set to spend his life in music and so far it's been a rich one that has included a standout debut album on Nous’klaer in 2018 and fresh EPs on the cult likes of Delsin, Bitta and Spazio Disponibile.

This week's mix showcases exactly what he is all about with 80 minutes of supple and subversive techno. Liquid tracks from Jeff Mills, Donato Dozzy, Shackleton and plenty of his own all feature in this timeless trip where slick transitions and carefully threaded grooves constantly build mood and atmosphere. From deep and cosmic to dark and dystopian, there is an always underlying tension that keeps both mind and body utterly locked in.

A short decade ago, Galcher Lustwerk seemed to come full speed out of obscurity with a moment defining mix that landed him and his sound at the centre of everyone’s attention. 100% Galcher was a blend of his unreleased works, borrowing from the alternative Americana of midwestern house and urban focused hip-hop, as well as another of his motherland’s key exports: film. The Cleveland native subsequently pushed that vision and its variants further with releases on Tsuba and the founding of label Lustwerk Music, as well as releases under aliases Road Hog, The Fock, Macchiatto, 420 and Power User; the pandemic didn’t slow him down either, with another batch of releases that spanned both rap and ambient with equal skill. A polyglot when it comes to musical genre: for most there’s a little daylight between hip-hop and electronic music, but for Galcher the two are at the vanguard of new sounds, genres united in a constant push into the unknown and discovery of the new, a key modus in his creative process. If any of this is difficult to envision, think lo-fi melodies and velvet smooth house with his very own voice thrown in, a dreamy patchwork of inspirations that are given form by his limitless innovation and nerd-level turnover of hardware. Bassiani Podcast 224 is a four-hour whopper recorded live at Horoom, the DJ/producer’s usual antics in more danceable format, laid back house and a measure of the ‘noodly’ jazz sounds he’s known for, with the supporting role of a driving bassline. Over the coming weeks, we'll be talking to different artists who are co-curating the 2024 edition of the festival. We dive into their creative process and explore their inspirations, all in honest conversations straight from the heart.

We’re very happy to share a new podcast episode, this time with Mama Snake and Martinou who open up about their upcoming and debut b2b set at our Aura next week. 

Though you might notice some contrast in their musical output, their connection to the hypnotic Nordic sound unites them, with both seeking those spine-tingling moments in music. They share personal stories about their close bond with the Draaimolen and Nous'klaer Audio teams, and how the festival's atmosphere will shape their performance. 

There were a few audio glitches, but the conversation was too heartfelt to cut.

The host of this podcast is Chanel Kadir, Draaimolen’s external PR officer who has been working with the team since 2023. Outside of that, she works across many different creative platforms within the music sphere including editorial-led platforms such as Untitled 909 and wav.world. She's also the co-curator of the F1-focused mix series G-FORCE and host of radio residencies across Netil Radio and Refuge Worldwide.

This podcast is edited and composed by Tilburg music producer Ramses3000, also known as multidisciplinary artist Yannick Verhoeven. Incorporating ambient, jazz, new age and psychedelic music, the classical and digital worlds meet in Yannick's sonic world. He has recently released his new album 'Thalamus' on Intercept Records, for which he spent three months in a monastery with the aim of composing music that helps the listener to relax and process the stimuli of everyday life.
