The first time I listened to BoxTox's music, about a year ago, I thought that I would really like to play with him. Lately, when I wrote this piece, I immediately thought maybe it was the right one for his clarinet .. I proposed it to him and ... voilà!

O συνδυασμός κιθάρας, μπάσου και drums πάντα αποτελούσε ένα είδος πρόκλησης για τους μουσικούς, στην προσπάθεια τους να εκφρασθούν χωρίς την συνοδεία πιάνου. Το εγχείρημα, στην περίπτωση του DMTrio, φαίνεται πως εκπληρώνεται, μέσα από μια κατά κύριο λόγο ανεπιτήδευτη αλλά και περιπετειώδη rock & jazz ατμόσφαιρα, σε μουσικές συνθέσεις του Δημήτρη Μονν.

Οι επιρροές πολλές, μεταξύ των οποίων οι John Scofield, John Coltrane, Jimmy Hendrix, Pat Metheny, Aka Moon, αλλά και οι “δικοί μας” Βασίλης Ρακόπουλος, Τάκης Μπαρμπέρης, David Lynch και πολλοί άλλοι. Με έκδηλα τα στοιχεία από διάφορα είδη μουσικής, αλλά και μια τάση για πειραματισμό με φόρμες και ρυθμούς, το DMTrio προτρέπει σε ένα δυνατό μουσικό ταξίδι, αλλά και σε μια διαφορετική ίσως, οπτική των πραγμάτων που συμπληρώνεται από τους τίτλους των κομματιών σε συνδυασμό με το εξαιρετικό artwork του εξωφύλλου από τον Αχιλλέα Γκατσόπουλο.

Τελικά οι διαφορετικές συναισθηματικές αποχρώσεις της άλλοτε μελαγχολικής, επιθετικής, ή ακόμα και παιχνιδιάρικης μουσικής συναντούν την εικαστική έκφραση σ’ ένα party “ειρωνείας”, σαρκασμού και αστειότητας.

'Goat Fell' is a Jazz Fusion track inspired by the Mountain on Arran, Scotland called Goat Fell.

This little number is totally inspired by my cat Sixx Vicious (pictured in all his round glory). It starts out with some crunchy blues in a straight forward 4/4 groove, and than morphs into a slow 6/8 groove before exploding into a full gallop 6/8 groove.
Towards the end it slows back down into a shuffle rhythm that fades into a rather different ending...surprise!!!! It's Chonkers.

Since I started one-man band music on SC, I realized how exciting it is to play the bass. So I wanted to compose and play a song in which the bass plays the lead.
Although it took some effort, I really enjoyed playing. 
I used Jazz base made by Fender Japan.

OCHTENDGLOREN | Short Tales Part V

“Ochtendgloren” is a great Dutch word meaning “Dawn”. But in a more poetic sense, it has a sense of optimism, it holds a promise of a beautiful day to come. The morning dawns on the horizon...
The track travels through several different fields and textures, traveling acoustically through many different styles, I feel it’s hard to categorize where this would land in an overall description, but I guess World fusion comes closest. But it contains elements of classical, Jazz, flamenco, Latin, pop, rock, blues.

I play my Flamenco Negro guitar again in a setting of a guitar trio. In form it can be considered as a continuation of my Short Tales series. The lead guitar has long sections that are improvised over the bed of the two accompanying guitars.

I hope you will enjoy this fifth Short Tale and as always I really enjoy your likes, comments and shares. -Dan

"Jörg S. born in Cologne, from youth on, is fascinated by all kinds of art, so he taught himself the saxophone very early. Nowadays flutes of all kind are also part of the equipment, as are jaw harps, percussion, bass, guitars and keyboards.
He was and is always involved in many band projects and session events.
In the 80s he was a saxophonist in the Adam Noidlt Intermission Orchestra with gigs in Berlin, Cologne, Düsseldorf and Basel. Very early on he also worked as a writer with live readings in the Cologne area and was a painter with large formats for many years, all in addition to his job as a graphic designer. Now, retired, he is devoted solely to music: home recording with the platform of choice, Soundcloud and global collaborations."
