The title pretty much sums up what I was aiming for. I recorded this one with my mini setup sitting outside in the sun. Oh bliss!
My influences here are pretty diverse: from Vicente Amigo to Al Di Meola to Return to Forever to Paul Gilbert to Steve Vai to Animals as Leaders... I hope one can hear a shimmer of that in this track...

Cover picture: Albert Bierstadt, "Emigrants Crossing the Plains" (1869): an oil on canvas painting of emigrants on their way to Oregon, inspired by a fifty-wagon train of German emigrants who crossed Bierstadt's path during his 1863 expedition.

Although it is very difficult to estimate the total number of European emigrants, it is thought that from the beginning of the 19th century to the middle of the 20th century, around 30 million people left Europe for the United States.

I reworked in the last days on this not particularly original piece, whose first draft is from 2018.

This song began with Stephen, who recorded it on his acoustic guitar and bass to a programmed drum track a few months ago. We were all thrilled to work on it, even though it sat in BandLab as a project for almost a month before Stephen separated the tracks, thus allowing us to trickle in our parts. JJ was first to jump on it, because he could before the tracks were separated, as his part is completely his idea. He added the organ that really set up the entire sound of both dominant sections of the song. 
  Ken was first up to the project once the tracks were replaceable, making the wild, driving beat his own. Inspired by both JPJ and Michael Ivins, Josh laid down his bass line, trying to match Ken's energy. Last, but not least, Mark jumped in with the rumbling timpani. He also added the flavorful harmonica, and unique jaw harp you hear throughout, as well. 
  At that point, Stephen also got the idea to add the hambone percussion at the very end of the song, which we all consider a treat, and after showing us how it's done, Mark volunteered his percussion skills to give it a go. Stephen wasn't done with it, though, and still had some magic to sprinkle. He went in and added the howling electric guitar you hear prominently in the second main section. Also, he added the tempting intro with his acoustic guitar and electric mandolin that looks like a Telecaster guitar. 
  Once it was in the bag, we thought it appropriate for our master mixer Stephen to put it to bed, which he did in his always expert manner. Mark did help with the production, though, as he's very good with editing and spotting mistakes that need to be corrected.
  This is a gift from Stephen to all of us, and you, too. It took a lot of teamwork to make the dream work, as always for Eclectic Collective. We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed creating it.

This feels so refreshing. I never included this final Vocal track in addition to Alchemical Woman and (G)Older, but now it feels Right.  Galadriel is the Softer Swordswoman, but Equally as Strong!

Dave's guitar is now more detailed and Exquisite with a fine acoustic sound towards the end. So Roy Harper I think👌🔥

My Vocals feel more Balanced, Softer in Ethereal, and more suited to Galadriel with special additions.

1920s to the 1940s, we saw the emergence of a new musical movement called the swing era, the period of "the jazz" or even the era of the big bands. This period gave rise to several orchestras such as Bennie Goodman, Duke Ellington , Count Basie and Artie Shaw.

This is what this song about. Pierro Tissan propose me to play this lovely song that represents exactly the great era of swing when the clarinet was the queen of jazz. 

My father was playing this kind of music with his Band: the Larry Martin  Orchestra(is name was Laurent Martineau but at the time it was important to have an English name to play swing :) ) and all his generation was dancing on this music.

So for about four minutes, I felt like I am Benny Martineau or Michel Goodman :)

This is the 11th tune coming from my 13 song suite called ''Celebrating life'' that I composed and interpreted by the last 4 months of 2012. As you know, I am reposting all these songs (only 2 left :) with a new guest collaborator and rename the suite ''Celebrating life with friends''

For this posting, I have a great saxophonist in Santi Caballero! Santi is an experienced musician who takes is time to develop his solo and the result is flabbergasting ! I don’t know if he is an angel but I know one thing, each note is choosing to play bring us in the same direction: heaven :) He plays magnificently the theme song on soprano and plays his super doper solo on tenor! 

Here is the story behind this tune:

September 20th, 2012 was a very important day for me because I got to my 6th treatment which was mid-way to my chemo treatment and psychologically it was an important step: finally, I was starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel ... a feeling of relief and out of breath ... which creates this song of relaxation.

It's a song that has some shades of folk song because the guitars are playing  finger picking during the theme song and the song becomes jazz style for the solos because the piano who is playing in complete freedom.

I hope you enjoy this song as much I did while doing this collaboration

Atmosphere- Celebrating Life With Friends - Feat. Santi Caballero

So now finally after a long break from my music I am back with this new instrumental. The title, Burning Elegant Spirit, hints on the influences for this latin jazz infused uplifting acoustic guitar tune by the album of three of my all time favorite guitarists: Passion, Grace and Fire. 
It is in essence a joyful tune, but there are some tricky parts in there, both technically and harmonically. Swift moves, staccato and flow...

At the dawn of a New Year to come I send this one out to all of you here truly wishing you clear and bright days to come. It was an intense year for me here, but also for many of my friends around the world with great many challenges and struggles. I am looking forward to making things better in the near future and felt the vibe yesterday with all the guys and girls at my firm. It feels good, let's keep it up!

About this rock instrumental: it was my first full recording with my newest Fender Elite Stratocaster, a joy to play and I much enjoyed this familiar, twangy sound I know so well from my youth when I just started playing on my Fender Squire JV-series. 
This track is built around a few different sections and cab settings, from clean to gritty to fuzz distortion, which leads to different moods, riffs and melodies. In a way playing this Fender pointed the way to my early playing style in more of a rock setting. Through the last years I recorded a few with this kind of feel ever so once in a while.

I sincerely hope you will enjoy this one and as always I appreciate all your likes, shares and comments!

Ratzzz & joerxworx / two lunatics, one dream

Piece for acoustic guitar trio, Part 1 - Introduction & Allegro assai

花(Ka) is a flower. 鳥(Cho) is a bird. 風(Fu) is wind. 月(Getsu) is the moon.
Literal translation "Flower, Bird, Wind, Moon"

This Japanese proverb is showing the sense and spirit of Japanese people. They feel beauty most in these four elements and have made many paintings and poems to this theme. That is why these four elements are considered as the beauty of nature. "Experience the beauty of nature and in doing so learn about one's self."

I wrote this like a tone poem in several sections, trying to evoke different sensations of movement and beauty, inspired partly on melancholic Japanese style infused music, by the likes of Ryuichi Sakamoto, also David Sylvian's music "When Poets Dreamed of Angels" Secrets of the Beehive, and the composition by the Assad brothers called "Natsu No Niwa Suite”, to name a few. Also this is a salute to the greatest guitar trio to date: Paco, Al and John. Long live Passion, Grace and Fire!

I hope you will enjoy this new composition of mine and as you know I always enjoy your comments, likes and shares!

Piece for acoustic guitar trio, Part II - Andante

花(Ka) is a flower. 鳥(Cho) is a bird. 風(Fu) is wind. 月(Getsu) is the moon.
Literal translation "Flower, Bird, Wind, Moon".

Part II picks up the themes from the first movement, but brings them into different scenes and backgrounds. The pace is slower, melancholic and lingering. Like the moonlit Night, with drops of rain, short flutterings of birds and the wind moving the heavy branches of trees …

"Jörg S. born in Cologne, from youth on, is fascinated by all kinds of art, so he taught himself the saxophone very early. Nowadays flutes of all kind are also part of the equipment, as are jaw harps, percussion, bass, guitars and keyboards.
He was and is always involved in many band projects and session events.
In the 80s he was a saxophonist in the Adam Noidlt Intermission Orchestra with gigs in Berlin, Cologne, Düsseldorf and Basel. Very early on he also worked as a writer with live readings in the Cologne area and was a painter with large formats for many years, all in addition to his job as a graphic designer. Now, retired, he is devoted solely to music: home recording with the platform of choice, Soundcloud and global collaborations."
