Baltimore house music icon Teddy Douglas drops a 60 minute mix for 5 Mag in celebration of his new album, "I'm Here."

@teddy-douglas-official has left a deep and indelible mark on house music in America and worldwide from his records with The Basement Boys and Jasper Street Co. — one of the creators of the Baltimore house sound that changed club music forever. Teddy Douglas's new album, I'm Here, debuts this month on Nervous Records and features collaborations with an array of outstanding artists, including Ultra Nate, Fast Eddie, Sipho and more. 

"The tunes featured on my new Mix for 5 Magazine are some hot new jams I’m feeling at the moment," Douglas tells 5 Mag, "and also some of my exclusive remixes, such as the classic Joe Smooth’ I'm Not Giving Up’ and Spencer Morales  ‘Without Love’ (Teddy Douglas Tedd Patterson Edit). The mix also features some brand new tunes from my first solo LP ‘I'm Here’, which has just been released on Nervous Records, including ‘Star In the Ghetto’ featuring Buckshot from Blackmoon, ‘Tonight’ featuring Richard Farrell and legendary Ultra Nate’s collaboration with me on ‘Searching (For Your Love)’. One of my favourite personal dance floor cuts at the moment, is my collaboration with Hip House legend Fast Eddie with ‘House Music’, which is already being hammered by Louie Vega in his DJ sets. let's be honest, Christmas is pretty much the worst genre of music... 

most songs are cheesy, terrible and annoying (otherwise we'd listen to them all year round), and when we hear them, our brains link those songs to our own Christmas memories - good and bad

but no doubt, a good, personally-nostalgic Christmas track can put you in the mood, remembering family, friends, food, festivities, presents and long lazy days

Our new guest on SOULMEEX DECKS is Matthieu Faubourg, a talented young French producer who’s steadily risen as a prominent figure in the house scene. Currently residing in Portugal, Faubourg began creating music at a young age but only ventured into electronic production at 23, starting from scratch. Combining house and garage influences, his music has earned him a place in the electronic landscape. As a DJ he’s known for his dynamic live performances, playing in 27 countries, and gracing venues across Europe and North America.

Faubourg's breakthrough came in 2017 with the release of his hit track Please Stay, a deep, emotive piece that has amassed over 7 million views on YouTube and 3 million Spotify plays. This success cemented his reputation as a rising star in electronic music. He continued to release captivating tracks and remixes, showcasing his signature melodic and synthetic touch.

In 2018, Faubourg launched his own label, Lust Definition, debuting with the melancholic track Slow Down, dedicated to his father. That year also saw multiple releases, including A Long Way on Jazzy Couscous and The Perfect Time on Smile for a While, reflecting his versatility.

His debut album, Simplicity is the Ultimate Sophistication (2019), highlighted his ability to blend energy and emotion seamlessly, earning critical acclaim. Faubourg's second album, Same but not Really, dropped in 2023, alongside the Aqua EP via Shall Not Fade.

On December 20th his latest EP, Normal Boy, will see the light on vinyl and digital on the German migthy imprint Rawax.

Two.in.Deep is a long-distance collaboration between me and French DJ, @deeparnog, which we started in 2020, during lockdown, born out of a mutual appreciation for each other’s love of deep house music. This is our fifth volume, our annual back2back session and I'm delighted to share it with you, just in time for Christmas.
