My singer-songwriter name is Vela, "candle". The candle is a symbol of hope. A candle casts a warm healing light. It lights up dark places. Even a modest candle can ignite a bonfire of change.

My songs shine an unflinching light on topical issues. I also revel in the delicious ridiculousness of life. I love co-creating exhilarating harmonies and soundscapes to share with you. These songs are collaborations with many wonderful gifted & gifting friends over the years: Kevin Guerette, Brad Dubinsky, John Lloyd, Johanna Paquin, Maria-Hélèna Pacelli, Lily Polowin, Ali "Ógui" Augé & Josh Myles.

The Eclipse project is the primary work of one solo artist, whom oversees, composes, produces, records and mixes all projects. Working with a rotating collective of guest musicians and artists that is constantly evolving and changing. Creating electronic-based music that crosses many genres.  From ambient to industrial sounding, you will find all expressions of electronic embodied in Eclipse.  The collective started as a forum to give musicians and artists a voice that is different than the shallow and often negative roles of modern media and music.  Eclipse fuses powerful messages of social consciousness, environmentalism, and peace into their beats, returning meaning into music.  All that, and a catchy beat, too.  Music with a message doesn’t need to be boring or bland!

Based mostly in Toronto, the collective consists of several musicians from different genres, from folk-rock to rap, and artists who create visuals and video for the collective. The lead producer plays various forms of hand percussion (20+ years) and Didgeridoo (18 years).

All Eclipse production work is original, and done the way all music "should" be done - composed by actual musicians & artists. I create and record everything from the ground up, not relying on sampling someone else's work or loops for main music beds.
