A song about the everyday.

Old man hoping he’ll be retiring pretty soon, old bones that are feeling a bit askew.
It’s late at night and he sits under lamplight going over the numbers again, can he retire?
Low rumble of the city tram going by, distant sound of police sirens, makes him feel alive.

Oooo ooo ooooooo  
No telling where life will take you, take a path and you may be happy or it’ll break you.

A woman a few blocks away in her flat, reading into the eve.
Dosing off thinks of her son who seems so incomplete.
He needs a wife, he needs a child.  
Gives her something to worry about; it puts her to sleep.

Hard night sleeping rough beside a graffiti dumpster.
Bearded dude only concerns himself with finding a coffee,
and a warm place to sit for a while and ponder his next moves.
Day-to-day, hour-to-hour, sometimes minute-to-minute.
Trying to subsist, the world doesn’t give a shit. 
He thinks, better not to dwell on it, better not to think about the what-if, 
else down the abyss.
