Recorded in 2017, Strange finds Gideon Jackson in full flow, bumpy, melodic, and raw slices of tech house that showcase the sound he helped shape in London’s underground.

We’re putting this mix out now to mark something special: Gideon’s long-awaited return to the decks, first at Archivio presents Wiggle (H0L0, NYC – Oct 18) and then at Wiggle (Gaffe, London – Nov 1). The mix is both a snapshot of where he came from and a taste of the roots he’ll be digging back into for these shows.

A reminder of why his name is woven into the early fabric of London’s tech house movement, and why we’re so excited to welcome him back.

I bring you DRBCHILLERS a new series dedicated to the more downtempo, easy listening, sunny afternoon side of things. This kind of music has played a big part of soundtracking my life from growing up on the likes of Mark Farina's Mushroom Jazz series to Josh Tweek's delightful MMSU podcasts. I wanted to throw my hat in the ring and curate a collection of selections to compliment the chilled times in life. 

Kicking things off we have our good friend and digger extraordinaire Flavio Matafora aka Albion Street Music. I first met Flavio when playing a Texture Summit party in San Fran some years ago, I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to go for a dig at his place and the rest is history. A four headed electro beast from Norwich’s Luke Sanger, more normally associated with sparkling techno productions, but proving here that’s he’s more than capable of transferring both his love of a characterful, quirky sonic and his instinct for filling dancefloors to this minor diversion of sorts.  The title track opens proceedings with some wonderful elastic bassline behaviour and sturdy drum machinations, while ‘Spambot’ – a late contender for the best named electro track of 2025 – goes for a blizzard of different tones held together by a rock solid snare. Flip it over for more electronics on the verge of a nervous breakdown via ‘Crunchy Data’ and the EP’s most boisterous and thumping moment, ‘Data Infection’. So much electro these days apes what came before it, whether that be Kraftwerk, Mantronix or Drexciya. This, on the other hand, is nothing like anything else you ever heard, and all the more thrilling as a result.
