The knowledge for soul soothing succor
Writing messages in the sand dunes for my successor

Repair the speaking part of me
The jutting gun mount not reeking of gun soil

Line patterns in the dark, following

Disastrous apparel
Breath through stitching, high nested squirrel
Patient and perceiving
The world's weight on the back of a turtle
I will screen daylight upon awaking
Camera obscura tells the story
that starts me shaking

Devouring roots, tree bark, grass of the plain
Sicken and die rather than surrender to disdain
Conjure the future through an obsidian mirror
See role dwindling down to the secular
Breastbone bears an inscription
indecipherable to the scholars

This fish's flesh will no longer do
No more nights spent in the canoe
Sunlight glints off seiche and capillary
Remission of the correspondent missionary
Grey feels the need to part
inadvertently revealing an ocean of schemes
What foul dust floated in the wake 
of his dreams?

It is a great honor to introduce this special musical project set to the powerful and beautiful poetry of the extraordinary Nobel Prize-winning Chilean poet Gabriela Mistral. This work was made possible with the kind permission of the Gabriela Mistral Foundation.
I want to give special thanks to the remarkable soprano Maribel Villarroél, whose stunning voice gave life and soul to each piece. Her deeply personal interpretation and awe-inspiring vocals brought authenticity and passion to this music. I am equally grateful to the brilliant pianist and arranger René Calderón, whose sensitivity and artistry are infused into each song. Their talent, dedication, and collaborative spirit have taken this project to levels I could only dream of as a composer.
Gabriela Mistral’s poems speak to the heart with timeless emotion, strength, and depth. Creating music for her words was both a challenge and a privilege, an emotional journey that led us to deep connections with her legacy and message.
The visual side of this release is also something I’m excited to share. The album cover was created by the outstanding Chilean artist Giovanni Gellona, whose artwork beautifully reflects the emotion and atmosphere of the music and Mistral’s poetry, and projects both her dignity and lovingness.
This album is not just a musical interpretation; it is a tribute to Chilean culture, poetry, and artistic collaboration. I hope listeners around the world can feel the love, effort, and respect behind every note.
I invite you to experience Gabriela Mistral’s poetry through this musical lens and share it with others who might be moved by it.

This song started as an idea Bill came up with on his acoustic guitar. Having found each other on the Cloud and enjoying each other's music, Josh and Bill decided to do a collab. Bill is a real deal guitarist, who's as prolific as he is skilled. Of course, Josh invited Eclectic Collective to the party, too.
  Shortly after doing so, he laid down a bass part to Bill's skeleton withi his four string fretless bass. Ken followed suit, and after a back and forth, completed the rhythms secion. JJ dug in next, adding the thrilling strings that highlight the high points of the melody. 
  There wasn't a whole lot of room for everyone on this, though, as Bill had the guitar parts nailed down tight. However, after sitting on the shelf for about half a year, Carl came along and added the missing piece with his raucuos vocals. Stephen also fattened up the sound a bit with his acoustic rhythm guitar.  
  Once it was in the can, we asked Stephen to work his production, mix, and mastering magic on it, too, which he came through with, as always.
  This brilliant song almost didn't see the light of day. It sat for what felt like forever, until we decided to revive it. This will not be the last collab we do with Bill, though, who was generous in not only sharing his music with us, but allowing us to do whatever we wanted with it, too. We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed creating it.
