Kiefer Detrick (Drums, Guitars, Vocals), Elon Thomas (Vocals, Guitar), and Julian Rivera (Bass) are a band from the eastside of Los Angeles, CA. They share a love for Wilco, Big Thief, and Tom Petty.. and it shows.
Their first single, folk-rock americana anthem “Just A Baby” is a jangly, light-hearted tantrum that is as relatable as it is repeatable. They are not worried if people will think it’s cool – this is a song about being a loser. After they leave the studio, they’re likely to be found drinking PBRs at home.
In the few short months they’ve been a band, they’ve built a studio, played five shows (The Echo, Genghis Cohen, Heartthrob, Record Parlour) for hundreds of people, and are closing in on finishing their first record. This is music for the manic, the sunburnt, and everyone watching the party from the couch.

‘words i saved for later’ is Border Collie’s second homespun effort in two months, and is an even more mature expression of their talents. ‘words’ is a confused confession: bitter and lost, fragments of moments without connection (“newspaper crossing at breakfast”, “rain on my eyelids are twitching”).



The lyrics are spilled over a stair-stumbling chord progression and a locomotive rhythm section. Tight harmonies, horns and organ are smeared all over the track, recorded and produced entirely by Border Collie in the padded concrete closet they call their studio. The band intend to release their third single one month after July 18, the release date for this single.

‘I don’t believe you’ is the third go-at-it from Border Collie since they started releasing in May. ‘I don’t believe you’ is confused: it’s bitter and lost, it doesn’t know who the gun is pointed at (“I’m angry but I’m listening”, “I was ten feet behind my eyelids”).

The lyrics are labored over a scratchy chord progression and a dizzying rhythym section. Loose, expressive rhythm section, tape-noise fidelity. Recorded and produced entirely by Border Collie in the padded concrete closet they call their studio. This single is a Fresh Find, it would fit well into *end credits.

i don't believe you - Border Collie

This song is a very personal sonic exploration of the circadian-esque dance between my nostalgia and dissociation. The looping guitar pattern accompanied by the musings of a deconstructing mind is abruptly thrown into a sober chorus. Under the surface, a sweeping vocoder builds and builds until it floods the whole track, heralding the overwhelming questions I can no longer avoid: What was I to start? Am I the same now? Am I supposed to be?
