Ashraf Fouad is an Egyptian composer who teaches composition and theory at The American University in Cairo (AUC). He graduated from The Academy of Arts in Cairo and The Juilliard School of Music, where he advanced to DMA studies with David Diamond. Recent performances of Fouad’s music have occurred in Cairo, Alexandria, Washington DC, Chicago, New York, Dublin, London, Vienna, and Budapest. Awards for his works have come from The Kennedy Center, the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers, and the American Academy of Arts and Letters.

Interview with Egyptian Composer Ashraf Fouad

The Shikaakwa* Symphony is an electro-classical piece in 9 movements about Chicago. 

It's eclectic by borrowing from so many genres ranging from the beautiful to the ugly, the melodic to the noisy, and the consonant to the dissonant.
