The last track from my Shall Not Fade EP is out today! Definitely the moodiest of the three. 2020 (and seemingly 2021) didn't offer much, if anything in terms of certainty for anyone and I found myself pretty frozen in any and all decisions, even down to little things like what to watch or eat etc. I'm sure a lot of you had similar experiences, hopefully things are looking up now ❤️ Hope you enjoy the music xxx

Laurence Guy returns to Shall Not Fade with his much-anticipated third EP, adding to last year’s massively successful ‘The Sun Is Warm and Directly Above You’ and ‘Your Good Times Will Come’. The London-based producer has amassed a global audience of listeners, all united in their appreciation for his luscious, upbeat house music and an outstanding discography of releases via imprints like: Ninja Tune, Late Night Tales, Studio Barnhus and Mule Musique.

While still unmistakably Laurence Guy’s signature style of delicately constructed, sample-heavy dance music, this EP carries a sombre note, reflective of the confusing times in which it was made. The A-side’s ‘Love Theme For The Morning After’ maintains a positive and danceable atmosphere, an ode to the moments of clarity and contentment we grasp in the afterglow. Musically, it is an ecstatic build-up of chords that leave you breathless, with a rhythm that pulses as consistently as a heartbeat throughout.  
By comparison to this joyfully glittering track, the B-side deals with more difficult emotions. Throughout ‘Mutual Excitement’, barely distinguishable vocal samples overlap each other in a hazy clamour, whilst natural keys play a bittersweet melody, pondering the uncertainty of a new relationship. Guy says of the final track, ‘Certain (To A Certain Extent)’ “2020 was a hard year to be certain of anything, I found myself frozen in pretty much every decision I had to make”. The song, a stripped-back melody built from a low fidelity jazz sound palette, is not just an exploration of the sense of uncertainty 2020 gave us, but expresses Guy’s acceptance of living without certainty. This soothing message is at the core of the EP, managing to create a sense of hope during an unsettled time.

Laurence Guy - Certain (To A Certain Extent)/ Shall Not Fade

Rising from the Southampton dance scene Mr. Sosa made a name for himself both in the clubs and behind the mixing desk. Bournemouth-based Mr.Sosa has gone from strength to strength over the last two years & has made a serious name for himself in the house & breakbeat scene, renowned for his menacing acid lines & catchy chords. Mr. Sosa first rose to the scene with his release 'Orion' including the famous tracks 'feel the love' & 'Orion' that was supported, downloaded, and streamed worldwide and was even pressed due to popular demand. With the success of Orion came support from Anjunadeep & thus lead to Mr. Sosa signing to Anjunadeep twice the same year. Orion isn't the only EP to watch out for though, Mr. Sosa had successful releases on Houseum, Misplaced records, Clipp art, Fresh take records, Limbo & Elation. There is a lot to come from this Bournemouth-based producer in 2021 with releases coming from Anjunadeep, Last Night on Earth, Nothing Else Matters, Need Want & Dealt With Records, It's looking like Radio plays, Charts, and worldwide gigs are going to be the new normal from the heavily watched Artist.

Music’s power is in creating community, and this is the essence of Laurence Guy’s work. The London-based DJ and producer’s motto is ‘music to make you feel feelings’: whether that’s comfort, nostalgia, bittersweetness or melancholy. His sound has an unmistakable warmth while being squarely aimed at the dancefloor: samples fit into sprawling keys, and dusty drums thud under lush chords. Amid a string of EPs, Guy has released two acclaimed albums; 2017’s blissful house LP Saw You For The First Time and 2023’s Living Like There’s No Tomorrow, But Killing Yourself In The Process, gracing labels including Studio Barnhus, Ninja Tune, Shall Not Fade and more, now signed to Future Classic. He’s now armed with a stash of hip hop and filter house influenced dance tracks, like the Jamie xx-tipped ‘Hey Baby’ and the groove-laden ‘Most Perfect People (Are Mostly Not Perfect)’ that are already soundtracking people’s best life moments.
