Kayu

The word "kayu", which meaning is wood in Indonesian, symbolizes the group's general idea: To make pure music on acoustic instruments.

Kayu existed from 2002 until 2007 and originated from a couple of successful world music sessions, held under the guidance of Stichting "De Nieuwe Amateur", in Delft (the Netherlands).

The group started playing traditional music from Asia and Europe initially, the diverse background of the members of the band caused a broad repertoire for Kayu. This would later help them to write music of their own. Songs are often sung in poetic tongues, instead of existing languages.

Their first effort was recorded with Guido Richarts (double bass / vocals) in Aachen, Germany in 2003. This EP, entitled "Kayu", covered six tracks and was self-released in September of the same year.

After one year and a half with Guido Richarts, Hein Bles took over on acoustic bass guitar. In 2004 singer IngerMarie Gaard Pedersen joined in and kayu worked on new songs, ultimately resulting in the full-length self-release "Moment", in 2006.

After this last release Sue op de Kamp joined the group as the new vocalist, and the group tours the Netherlands for a short while. In 2007, the future of the group remains unclear due to band members moving abroad, other musical projects and personal life changes.

Faarjam Saidi is an Iranian musician and producer whose sound blends pop and indie pop with rich Middle Eastern influences. Drawing inspiration from contemporary Iranian poetry, his music is marked by emotional depth, poetic lyricism, and a unique cross-cultural sensibility. Tracks like “Fathe Bagh,” “Sabze Lajani,” and “Amsterdam” showcase his ability to fuse reflective storytelling with memorable melodies.
With releases including Koala (EP, 2017), Sabze Lajani (2022), and Harf Bezan (2024), Faarjam continues to explore themes of identity, longing, and resilience through his distinctive musical lens.
