This musical project began in summer 2021. Two people. Two different views on things combined into something more. The work on the debut album took almost three long years. But slowness helped to achieve the desired result in sound and overall concept of the album..
 
Genre? Good question. Basically it's heavy metal (of course) but also included more sub styles: from soft acoustic moments to aggressive extreme parts. Literally different colors of music. Debut Album “Road To Nothing” it's just the beginning of Artesea’s Adventure.

I was a rather weird kid, listened to Spike Jones, Benny Goodman, fifties rock´n´ roll and my father´s jazz record collection (O.  Peterson, Bird, C. Brown, W. Montgomery etc.)
 Later I discovered Psychedelia, New wave/Punk, Japanese noise (especially C.C.C.C.), 60-70s rock classics, Debussy&Messiaen, Dub reggae, Prog (Gabriel era Genesis, Van der Graaf Generator....), vintage Beninese stuff (Orchestre Poly Rythmo de Cotonou, Gnonnas Pedro  and so on), UK Freakbeat, out-there Jazz, Bowie/Floyd bootlegs, J. Zorn, early 90s Indie, F. Zappa, antique French Pop (Dutronc, Laforet...), U. Srinivas plus labels like Delerium Records, Shimmy Disc, Japan Overseas (Osaka), RecRec music and God knows what.
Additionally, I should mention that my all time favorite Finnish album is Sperm "Shh! Heinäsirkat". Check it out!
Various literary and "cinematic" influences have molded my music.  The more predictable stuff like Surrealism, Dada, Situationism, Beats (mainly W. Burroughs) of course, but I have also been influenced by the old-school Finnish Radio Drama, Beninese "traditions", the ramblings/books by P .Levenda, Megalithic Structures&Art, the humor of H.S. Thompson, 70s-80s Eastern European Animation, Yakuza films and by the cult movies re-released by Blue Underground, Something Weird Videos, Mondo Macabro, Arrow Films and so forth. Pretty far-out stuff that could destroy your mind permanently?
 And nope, my photo is not from the 50s or from the 60´s (It was taken around 358 BC, hahaha).

      This is a song started when Mark came up with its architecture, recorded in a  slower, more laid back version on his own. However, he wanted a more souped up version with solos in turns. So, he turned to The Eclectic Collective to fill in the pieces. He originally had solos in all the parts which he laid down on the keys, and he had some lyrics, too. However, once he heard The Mysterious Decibel's excellent lyrics and vocals, the song totally changed the direction and the vibe, for the stellar. 

       But MD didn't start the whole thing. As happens sometimes, even without Tez on this one, we still needed to clear out some space to let everyone have their say. So, Mark went in and lengthened the song mechanically. Once we had a final form, Ken, as always, came up with the foundation for the song, allowing Josh to add his version of Mark's bass line. Then, after MD gave us the vocals to form the song, we got down to adding the solos. JJ first added his thrilling opening piano solo, as well as the electric piano solo right after the first verse, which Mark is also playing a VST sax solo in, as well. Then Josh added his guitar solo, which is the first of the two, with a very clean tone. Right after that, Stephen added his fiery solo, which follows right after with a more overdriven tone. Finally, Mark stepped back in and added his killer harp solo at the end. Of course, it needed to be mixed well, too, so we turned to Stephen for that important role, once again, which he fulfilled expertly.  

       This past Tuesday, we released a fun little series of interviews over a compilation of some of our favorite musical moments. If you want to hear our voices and some of our thoughts about music, check it out. I realize it's a big ask at twenty minutes, but you might really enjoy it, especially if you follow us, and have been for a while. It's a celebration of all of our work over the past almost year together in various forms. This song was supposed to be a showcase of all of our skills, except Tez isn't in on this one. He'll be on the next one, though, for sure.

       We hope you enjoy this jazzier side of the EC as much as we enjoyed making it. MD's lyrics are about a psycho killer artist who hides clues about his murders in his paintings.

'Give Yourself To Love..'

A bit ridiculous, probably because of a 3/4 measure. 

Not a big fan of this time signature, since it reminds me of those cheesy Austrian movies about empress Sissi that were regularly broadcasted on Croatian television during the winter holidays in the 90's. It had nothing to do with my political views – I didn't have them, since I was a kid – I was (and still am) just disgusted with all that high class Habsburg aesthetics, waltzes and cheesy tourist oriented stuff like Mozartkugeln. 

Fortunately, you could watch „Mad Max“ and „Highlander“ trilogies in the evening hours.

Still don't get which demon tricked me into making and recording this unspeakable horror™.
