Decoded Magazine Mix of the Month Winning Submission – DJ LP

I'm Zoltan from Hungary, and music has been a defining part of my life since the '90s. Over the years, I've explored many styles of electronic music, creating mixes for over 20 years. These days I focus mainly on melodic and progressive house, often blending in afro house and electronica elements. 

I have a passion for precise transitions, harmonies and melody-driven storytelling. My signature style is the high track count, usually 30 or more per hour. For me, mixing is not just about blending tracks, it's about experimenting and creating a unique sonic journey.

In 2025, I was one of the winners of the Saturo Sounds DJ Competition, which led to becoming a quarterly guest resident on their station. The same year, I was also selected as a runner-up in one of Decoded Magazine’s monthly Mix of the Month competition, placing in the Top 10 from over 160 global entries.

Earlier in my journey, I hosted my own mix show on TranceTream.FM, Hungary’s first trance streaming radio, and the most popular web radio of its time.

Formative dj years in the ‘80’s - the famous / infamous weekly Sheffield 1 before Rave happened: regular opener on the graveyard-shift playing alternative / punk / goth / indie and new wave, or duelling with others for main-time action and 1000 partying students. The days before we discovered slip mats - literally dropping records for instant starts (or the needle bounced off).The smaller, select parties where someone once asked if we had any ‘House music’...

Fast-forward to the 90’s &amp; early 00’s –Tong, Rampling, Jules, Stu Allan, Andi Durrant exposing a world of excellent music on radio. Increasingly disillusioned with bland dance mix albums never matching up to the best club or radio material (and clearly not going to the right record shops), Aarell needed decks and 12’s to make some better compilations...

Early trance and funky house outings moved aside for more soulful, deep, tech and progressive house influences. With a handful of micro-legendary mix releases on private imprint ‘Ned Kandi’, and a few DJ tweaks, edits and mashups in the bag, watch out for more Aarell activity...
