The hum of a guitar can be heard blowing on the breeze between the trees of the Hubalub island. The crowd gathered around a trio of performers who found themselves dancing in the open space beside the beach house. The sun had begun to set and tribal drums clattered as they danced amongst the sand. A solitary bird flew by, it's shadow all that was visible, a black silhouette against the dying light of the shrinking sun. Rum was passed between revelers and the crowd rejoiced as a count was issued: "1, 2, 3, 4, UHH". The drums resumed. 
Bosconi Extra Virgin is an interesting label capturing the spread of a highly international sound. Listen to Riccio's take on dirty funk below as he captures an enthusiastic energy on "Uhh".

C'était début juillet, il a maintenant presque un mois, la semaine sainte du Worldwide Festival de Gilles Peterson sonnait l'heure du rendez-vous annuel dont il nous est impossible d'en rater une miette. Cette édition 2016 fut une fois de plus un cru exceptionnel. Entre live, DJ sets, ambiance, espaces, rencontres, pas une seule fausse note. Chaque année on s'y prépare et pourtant, chaque année on se reprend une grosse claque musicale. Une symbiose parfaite entre espace, temps et couleurs musicales à laquelle nous avons une fois de plus apporté notre pierre à l'édifice.

Du mardi au vendredi nous avons installé le studio du Mellotron sur la plage de La Ola pour y recevoir producteurs, DJs, amis et nouvelles rencontres. De 11h00 à 14h00 se sont succédés dans le désordre DJ Oil, Nikitch, Around The World, Clémentine, Saint-James, Jim Irie, Majestic Mood, Les Oreilles de P'ears, Frederic Beneix, Le Mellotron DJs, et bien  sûr le papa du festival Gilles Peterson et son acolyte Lefto pour finir la semaine en beauté.

Et du coup, pour ceux et celles qui en auraient raté une miette ou veulent se refaire une piqure de Worldwide Festival, on vous balance ici même les recordings de ces sessions. On tient à s'excuser pour les deux podcasts manquants de Da Vince et Supagroovalistic qui viendront rejouer le match quand bon leur semble au 6 rue beaurepaire.

Rendez-vous l'année prochaine, même ville, même festival, nouvelle claque.

On this third delivery from AM Records the A-side is reserved for two disco edits by grandmaster Loud-E and new kid on the block Baerlz from Paris. Here’s Jonny is a pushy synthetic track build from Claudia Barry’s Open the Door and Dis-Le-Mewa is a sweet Bollywood rework, fine-tuned to sound nice on heavy club systems. The flip side contains two more contemporary afro house edits by Afrobot: Kwaito is a subtly pounding percussive South African jam and Angola House Marimba is a fast Kuduro banger with a raw vocal sample.

Handstamped artwork by Frank Koedood on the sleeve again.

Cette première sortie présente quatre styles différents : jam hip-hop au scratchs ajustés, italo disco kitsch à souhait, uptempo afro-disco avec une touche soukous et enfin "Sundar Cheenee", une piste bollywoodienne de Baerlz, connu pour ses tracks sur le label AM records d'Afrobot. 

C'est ce dernier morceau "Sundar Cheenee" que l'on vous propose en exclusivité aujourd'hui avant sa sortie officielle le 15 septembre prochain. On ne peut pas mieux commencer la rentrée !
