It had been several hours since the plane left the ground, bound for a far flung destination that was yet to be decided. Every passenger who embarked this plane left the location up to chance, in the hope of discovering something new, somewhere untouched and unspoilt by human hands. Nobody came home disappointed, and some didn't come home at all.

Following releases for Moustache, Bordello a Parigi and Permanent Vacation, French producer Eliott Litrowski makes his way to Utrecht-based imprint SoHaSo's offshoot OOSHA. Across the three original tracks on his 'Long Story Short' EP, he ties together his love of Dutch electro, French techno and Italo Disco, backed up by a heavy electro remix on the flip from a pioneer of the sound, DMX Krew.

Time to welcome the return of Echonomist to TAU, as the prolific Greek producer comes through with a four track selection from his audio lab. Echonomist exudes versatility, with a discography that includes a wide range of styles, demonstrating his ability to explore different genres with confidence and flair. His last appearance on TAU was a collab with the label heads Adana Twins which hit No.1 in the Beatport Indie Dance chart. He’s also recently been releasing with Innervisions, as well as Kompakt. Echonomist has honed his sound, striking a delicate balance between emotion and rhythm, injecting authentic feeling into unadulterated dance floor moments...

 ‘Pothos’ (featuring Mr. Lookman on the guitar), another cut that merges a live band feel with electronic influences. The extended intro feels like a live on stage jam with guitarists and drummers hyping up the crowd. At just over 2 minutes 30, Echonomist introduces vintage synths, which take us back in time a few decades. As the track progresses, his playful approach produces electrifying moments of tension and release that make this one a special cut indeed.

It takes "merely“ a decade of the seeming hiatus after his debut EP, but David Kriz, aka https://soundcloud.com/crosz, has been gradually into the music since the early years of the millenium, participated in multimedia projects, collaborations and installations along the way, and thus now he earns years of (generally) volatile creativeness with the sophomore long-player.

He‘s working within (and not just) ambient, IDM, and also electronic music to dance to, describing his own output „deep patterns of the film noir“ as well, while he moves forward to feel like a more lo-fi-esque aesthetics‘ coming through the music material, and finding pleasure with a tapedeck hisses and in the heaviness of a synth-lines..

Saying that his studio by the time started to be occupied with sound hardware lately, so the sound turns to be dirtier, circuiting.. And so he left the taste for sterile clean & clear digital music product that does not satisfy him anymore. He wants to add some vintage patine.

Still mainly composing in the software and using many plug-ins, but „the centre of gravity“ of CRoSz’s production moved to the machines, instruments and other music gadgets, in the reality that is widely inspirational like he mentioned by himself – a clash of a virtual, unreal world with the physical and present one also captures the cover by Tobias Grolich.

On the span of LP tracks, David is varying tempos and moods to an eclectic mixture with emphasis on atmospheres and melodies, attempting to build the cohesive body of work. By his words: „I am more into the diversity that has some kind of logic inside. It amuses me - same like conceptual records for listening - and in the case of my album, this makes the certain compromise of how to keep its shape and avoid repetition, nor do not get bogged down to same-genres stereotype at the same time..“ describing the creation of" Low Drift“.

PREMIERE : Match Box - Quantum Transients

Edinburgh enigma Eyes of Others steps out of the woods to present his long-length debut « Elevenses » on Global Warming Records. With a sound once described as « post-pub, couldn’t get in the club music », Eyes of Others sonic style is a ghostly mix of leftfield pop and electronic dub. His melancholic productions are a reminder of a failed relationship whilst doing the dishes, celestial and conversational in equal measure. Putting pleasure first always, picking up the pieces thereafter - may this record be your lover and strife.

But Eyes of Others is not taking his first steps here. Previous releases on Edinburgh’s ‘Paradise Palms’ Records saw remixes from the late legend Andrew Weatherall and plays on BBC 6 Music help establish his signature sound. Elevenses now renders a coming of age moment as it grooves and meanders through everyday subjects in a light-hearted yet cutting fashion. Stuart Evans of Green Door Studio puts the finishing touches on the productions using his mixing techniques to elevate the tracks to a dubby space of their own.

The release is visually scored by the Manchester-based creative studio DR.ME, using original Eyes of Others footage from a remote island in the Scottish Hebrides. The record will be released as a K7 tape including 2 exclusive tracks + a limited edition hand-printed t-shirt + an original print booklet.

Global Warming Records is run by Franco-British producer and talent seeker Malcolm, who imagines and shapes each project hand in hand with his artists. Elevenses will be the label’s 15th release.

PREMIERE : Eyes of Others - Turn Out A Light

A love of live instrumentation and a knack for writing expansive club records, Melbourne’s Roy Blues (Ryan D’Sylva) is being solidified as one of the leading electronic producers in Australia. With a gripping live show, that is turning the heads of seasoned tastemakers. Folk like Bonobo, Richie Hawtin, CC: DISCO, DJ Boring and RUFUS DU SOL have been queuing up his records, as the pot continues to bubble over Roy Blues prowess. 

After a successful opening release ‘Pyramid’, and building upon his follow up EP ‘Brain Wax’, Roy Blues now takes the lead for his first ever independent release, dishing up a beautifully intense batch of tracks, that go by ‘Subterrane’. Armed with a range of synthetic instrumentation and an “obsession for manipulating soundwaves”, Roy Blues makes dance music that hits different. Tastemaker channels around the globe are starting to take notice, with local stations like Triple J, FBI, PBS and international platforms NTS Radio, The Lot (NYC), Dub Lab and Rinse FM giving him precious airtime. 

The title track ‘Subterrane’ is a sweeping, alien-like soundscape. Imagine you’ve just landed a rover on a new planet, it’s this EP playing in your helmet. A whirlpool of modulated percussion rolls over on itself, soon burrowing down into a frenetic tunnel of sound. Racy mandolin-like plucks reverberate within its walls, enthralling listeners with a volley of audio before spitting them out to safety. 

The second visitor, ‘Pulsar’, is a calmer, more explorative affair. Showcasing his love for shapeshifting sound, Roy leads listeners on a shuddering journey, bringing new meanings to the notes you hear.  ‘Pulsar’ is that excellent bridge between light and dark, a tune destined to take audiences closer to the stars during live sets. 

Finally comes ‘Obelisk’. Riddled with intensity, this track is born to be played in no atmosphere. Looped digitalised scales make way for grandiose bass notes that meld wonderfully, culminating in quite the closing trip. These records don’t seem to fit a genre but rather speak on their own terms. 

It’s true. Live tours are back and if you’re eager to catch Roy Blues, he’s currently supporting brother-sister combination Lastlings on a 10 date tour across the country. PREMIERE : Roy Blues - Pulsar

The third chapter in On Board Music’s The Meaning Of Time compilation series takes a different approach. The label engaged its community with an open call for tracks, and then tasked its core, established artists with remixes of each. The resulting, 22-track offering is a sublime snapshot of modern ambient and deep techno, showcasing the label’s richly talented roster and an exciting next generation. As with the previous compilations, all proceeds will be donated to Sea Watch and the important work they do for the migrant crisis in the Mediterranean Sea.

PREMIERE : Shaded Explorer - Life Stream (Estrato Aurora Remix)

The mix series and music platform Mantissa takes its first steps into the label space with Mantissa 001. Written and produced by a close friend to the Mantissa family, this unnamed and elusive artist has helped us launch the label with a bang with three club focused, space inspired tracks designed to decimate a dancefloor or atone for a night's shenanigans at an after's.    

Space Cadet opens the extraterrestrial affair, weaving from acoustic elements to electronic and eclectic synth lines. The A side ends with Frozen Bounce, a wobbly number, woven together with quick cuts and jerky elements. U10A, the most structured of a complex affair is a warming club tool perfect for both, beginning and finishing an evening. It's remix similarly suitable for any party specific scenario, produced by the infamously talented artist Ciel.

Following up to Rob Belleville’s inaugural delivery, Fluid Electronics returns in 2021 with a new collaborative EP courtesy of Dutch veteran Jarno, the man behind Trouw's infamous Below evenings, and Fluid Electronics’ co-founder and owner Shirazi, back in full swing after a ten-year break from production. The EP features remixes from Amsterdam’s Love Over Entropy and seminal Rotterdam-based duo, Duplex. 

The A-side finds Shirazi and Jarno dishing out a vaporous dub with the focus track, “Late Night Thoughts”. Engineering a mix of reverb-drenched atmospheric techno laced with hedonistic house accents and mystique-imbued melodies on a dreamy tip. Upping the tempo and overall vibe of the track, Love Over Entropy’s remix propels its listener in a blazing corridor of synth arpeggios and luminous chords.

The flip side sees Shirazi go solo on the ethereal “Continue Learning”, all in evocative spaciousness and textural finesse, as it merges the immersive depth of Basic Channel-esque envelopes with further straightforward floor dynamics. Clone-affiliated duo Duplex provides a tighter, jacking match to the original’s vaster headspace, tweaking it into a proper clinical club-ready weapon.

The tribe, by releasing their compilation, wishes to offer a canvas for primary emotions, rhythms and thoughts. Oscillating as much by the bpm as by the intensities, the canvas is big enough to portray your feelings.

Fukuoka based artist Reqterdrumer (aka Tomoya Mastsubara) has been active since 1996 as a DJ and event organizer collaborating with some of the most renown DJs both at home in his native Japan and abroad. In 2008, a track he shared on the web caught the attention of Corey Gibbons; that same year he made his debut in Ibiza. Since then he has been collaborating with artists from all over the world, and releasing music on various labels. In 2014 Ken Ishii remixed “Suiren” a track that has been played by renowned djs such as Derrick May and Xhin. 2018 marked his label Blue Arts' 10th Anniversary while 2021 marks 25 years of events, djing and music. For this occasion Reqterdrumer decided to release on his label the EP "Remixed" featuring six remixes of his most recent releases by artists such as Drvg Cvltvre, and Kelton Prima.   Kelton Prima  

Kelton Prima is a french artist who started his journey in the late 80’s as a member of a computer demo band called Future Minds (the golden age of Atari ST and  Commodore Amiga computers). In the early 90’s, highly influenced by underground house and techno he began djing and producing his own music.  Since then, he has been involved in distribution, retail, the creation and management of labels, multimedia installations, musical performances with various contemporary artists, and has also been writing for the french musical press. These last years he went back to his roots : disco and electro-funk sounds, producing EPs, LPs, and remixes, with such labels as belgian Disco Praline, Chicago based Mathematics Recordings run by Jamal Moss, Pizzico Nobel, and more.

New York City-based House duo musclecars have been steadily building a formidable reputation within underground dance circles in their hometown. With the creation of their Coloring Lessons Party in 2018 (which is now a label), they sought to reinvigorate their city’s dance culture and foster a greater sense of community by highlighting and incorporating styles and genres largely associated with their Black ancestry. Shelter, (Building It Still) is the latest solo EP for the duo on their newly minted label.

	B-side track, “We Go Home Together”, is a gorgeous, patient, amorphous cut of experimental Jazz-House. Its blend of emotive jazz arrangements with a more propulsive club-ready House beat illustrates a meticulous, yet free-form approach to music-making that the duo thrives at. The track starts with a thumping bass and shifty percussion before an ethereal synth wash wraps it in a more gentle veneer. These club-leaning tendencies turn out to be mostly a red herring, as they’re kept mostly at bay throughout the song’s 7-and-a-half-minute runtime. Once the sax emerges, it’s clear musclecars has committed to their own unique brand of soulful, genre-agnostic House.

	As the track hits the halfway point, a piano-line suited for a classic Disco House cut signals yet another new avenue the duo seems keen on exploring. Despite their restless spirit, they never feel as if they’re trying to push too hard in one direction, ultimately allowing the track’s multifarious parts to playfully and organically interact with one another. Here, the duo prove just what naturals they are at concocting such ineffably blissful, melodically soothing dance music.

X-Kalay are ringing in their milestone 10th release with a various artist compilation, and what a release it is. Launching only last year, the London-based imprint has put out quite a few releases already from artists such as Rudolf C, Kask and No Moon amongst others. Their sound ranges from more melodic, lo-fi sounding productions to dubbed out and downright acid-y tracks. Their 10th release features producers from three continents. Mucho Sueno from Chile, two Australians in E.Davd and Escape Artist, and finally Zurich, Switzerland-based Douala who we're premiering today.

With a couple of releases on Gnork's label Blorp, Douala has been crafting a bit of a name for himself in the lo-fi scene. Generally his productions have a more melodic flare but in this case, the A1 track Mysteries of Life strays a bit from what we've come to expect from the producer. Taking a more minimalistic and dubby approach, the single has a hypnotic air about it with an upbeat rhythm but spaced out and reverberating cosmic synths, perfect for the late night hours. This instrospective tune is not one you want to miss out on and the rest of the release is a treat as well!

PREMIERE : Douala - Mysteries Of Life

Influential early electronic Italian band N.O.I.A. are releasing some of the most vital tracks form their back catalogue, and the terrific latest two come with remixes from Francisco and Ali Renault.
N.O.I.A. was amongst the first electronic music groups to emerge in the late seventies and early eighties alongside peers like Human League and Depeche Mode. In their time, N.O.I.A. released on labels like EMI, Italian Records and CBS and were successful on the Italian, German and Belgian dance markets. These tracks come from a demo session recorded in mid 1982 at the Oderso Rubini (Italian Records co-owner) studio and are perfect examples of their still essential style.
The superb ‘Forbidden Planet’ is a shiny early electro cut with a great funk bass line, a real instrumental groove and fantastic melodies that shimmer like a hot sun. It’s filled with joy and sounds as fresh today as ever, the way it ducks and dives and offers real warmth.
The Francisco Remix keeps the funk vibe but changes the groove to be a more Chicago house style cut. As such it has a rasping bassline, big drums and coarse percussion that make you want to jack.
The masterful Ali Renault—a go-to disco and synth specialist who runs Cyber Dance Records, Human Shield Record Company and most recently his own Vivod imprint—then turns out a hypnotic version that is more driven and direct for the dance floor, with robotic bass and epic reflective synth lines. It’s a cinematic track with great analogue textures that goes back to the future.
The last original is the excellent ‘Stay With Me’, a cosmic love song with breezy trumpets and dreamy disco vibes as well as soulful vocals. Italo melodies and infectious percussion finish it off and make it an instant crowd pleaser.
These are four tracks imbued with shades of electro, Italo and disco that cannot fail to inject feel good vibes to any set.

SALT007 Escape Artist - Signs Of Life EP

It's this experience of being at an age when you're really uncertain of everything and overwhelmed by how much grief and how much horror is happening in this world, overwhelmed by your trauma and your baggage and in many ways you are stunted by this fear or paralysed by it even though you are aware of how much better you have it than the vast majority of others out there. It isolates the idea that we all exist within a framework of fragility and uncertainty. 'Distilled Existence' imagines an alternative reality that exists in stark contrast, where everything is gentle and nothing hurts. This track is by Pulsum. Spoken word poem written and delivered by Ariana Molly.

The road was calm and quiet, those who inhabited the surroundings rarely saw much new life pass through here. Bordered by perfectly symmetrical tall trees, the dust track stretched far into the distance, with no destination in sight. He perched on the side of the road, tapping the curb with the tips of his fingers to make sure he didn't drift off. With every slight sound he jolted up to his feet, but for hours he waited and nothing passed. As he was about to admit defeat, the rev of an engine sounded further up the road, slowly gaining closer and closer. Now to sweet talk his way into getting a lift...

Parisian label Motordiscs, a continuation of the late Garage club in the capital, offer up their third release, another V/A spotlighting former DJs and artists who've played at the space. Following previous track contributions from the likes of Sascha Funke, Khidja, Zombies in Miami and Massimiliano Pagliara, their newest release brings together tracks from The Juan MacLean, Fairmont, Naduve and our pick from Javi Redondo, who notches the energy levels up through revving synth lines and dynamic percussion.

Hailing from Atlanta, Georgia in the United States, @strandedmsk's material blurs the lines between post-punk, new wave, house, and disco resulting in an amalgamation of sounds and something unexpected.

The project's second single, 'Cherry Fortune,' shines a light on Stranded's post-punk, new wave influences with woozy guitars, elongated bass tones, and washed out vocals. Ripe for twilight drives or lazy afternoons, the atmosphere on this one is special.
