Lessons From the Dreamtime is an experiment in neo-classical, studio manipulation, post-industrial texture, and world music founded by Jesse Maddox and features long time ambient and wordless vocal collaborator Kendall Flores. I visualize my music in a cinematic way, where sounds represent places, people and things that I have encountered in my life. I'm coming out of a phase where I wrote all loop-based material and I am also just learning how to compose music for the first time, with little formal training. So, I repeat myself often, though I am gradually improving. There are many surprising things that I'm discovering about myself and my music as I go. I played the drums for about ten years and have some knowledge of percussion. That is probably my strongest and weakest part of my composition, as sometimes it shines and other times I vamp out without any variation. I actually hear the variation, though I hold back for some kind of minimalistic point to make.


I am finding it difficult to find collaborators, though have really enjoyed talking to people and finding out more about their outside perspectives of myself. I will keep trying to collaborate... I love guitar music, I sometimes think I only write music to have a guitar player perform to it.
