A legendary west coast selector also known as the designer behind clothing brand Rythmatix, Mr. Wu has been a fave DJ of the crew for almost a decade. Calling his clothing ‘a study in visual rhythms’, his DJ mixes could be called ‘a dance through sonic imagery’. The storytelling is key— from rappers with evocative lyrics in the tracks, to the intersecting narratives connecting Mr. Wu’s diverse yet distilled multi-genre sonic sensibilities. I haven’t put up any new music for a while but this is the single for my new EP coming out in May. It’s an unofficial remix of Sylvan Esso’s “Hey Mami”. The vocal melodies of the original just had me hooked instantly and inspired me to make this!

The music I’ve been making lately is some of my best and I’m stoked to show you guys! I just finished driving/moving from Massachusetts to California and I have a lot of new inspiration and ideas for music! This is the tip of the fuckin iceberg. Enjoy :)

Here is a mix of what I played for a memorable stormy sunset on the new Lunar Stage at Goulash Disko. Not much of a plan, more of a vibe. Really hope you like!

Sharing a common love of music and life on the road, Fruition were originally brought together by the lure of adventure. For the last six years, the Portland, Ore. string infused quintet has racked up the miles playing sold out shows in their adopted hometown and garnering new fans across the country.
 
Over the years, Fruition have toured with or collaborated with members of Railroad Earth, ALO, Infamous Stringdusters, Leftover Salmon, Greensky Bluegrass, Elephant Revival and The Head and The Heart. They've thrilled audiences at festivals including Jamcruise, High Sierra Music Festival, Northwest String Summit and All Good Music Festival, and played for packed rooms at Portland, OR’s Crystal Ballroom, Boulder, CO’s Fox Theater, San Francisco’s Fillmore as well as the Great American Music Hall, Boston, MA’s Brighton Music Hall and more.

With no signs of slowing down, the band takes each day as it comes. From broken down vans and whiskey shots, to the lovers and loved-ones who check-in through the miles, at the end of the day it's Just One of Them Nights for this talented bunch who are experiencing a radiant present and looking towards an even brighter future.

I recorded a mix for Mr. Tong's "Essential Mix" radioshow and it will be sent straight into the heart of your ears this Saturday! 👂🏻👂🏼👂🏽👂🏾👂🏿

Really happy to say at least a third of the mix consists of music made or released by friends - a constant inspiration in my life! ❤️

I also wanted to give a bit of context, as I had two inspirations for this mix:

1. The beginning of an Auden poem called "On This Island" 🏝

"Look, stranger, at this island now
The leaping light for your delight discovers,
Stand stable here
And silent be,
That through the channels of the ear
May wander like a river
The swaying sound of the sea." 🌊

2. The mix starts with a song called "White Bird" by June11 and there is a beautiful background story to the song, that stayed with my during all the dreaming i was doing during the recording. 🕊

"White Bird was inspired by the story of the biplane L'Oiseau Blanc, that took off from Paris in 1927 and vanished on its way to New York. The pilots, Charles Nungesser and Francois Coli, were never seen again. Their PL.8-01 sea plane, made of wood and cloth, is thought to have broken upon landing. Nobody knows what really happened. I think L'Oiseau Blanc is still floating somewhere in the endless sky, with its ghosts, doing aerobatics. Maybe their plan was to have no plan, but to gracefully get away from darkness, time, madness, crowds." 🕊
