The ICO Obernburg is celebrating its 100th anniversary. Therefore a lot of great artists were showing photos, sculptures, paintings. But there was music too and so I had the chance to create half an installation and half a performance the whole day long in a beautiful old working space. I was deeply focussing on working with the ambience of the room itself but also with the visitors coming and leaving. There are 17 takes I have recorded to show how my work has evolved over time.

opus automatum (part 1) is based on a 16-track recording from the Serge modular system. The entire recording was edited with the focus on preserving the original analog timbre of this unique synthesizer

opus automatum (part 1) is the first piece in a five-part collection of generative compositions. 
I dedicate this recording to the passionate musician, composer and philosopher Klaus Weinhold.

The dark: the recent passing of friend Paul Schreiber, owner of Synthesis Technology. Along with fellow rocket scientists Eric Brombaugh and Robert Rich, he engineered the E370 Quad Morphing VCO which I use everyday. He was a true genius, a snarky story-teller, a good hearted guy. I felt honored just to know him, occasionally helping with some demos and testing on various modules.
