Christmas Passing

This is my version of the wonderful Opening by Philip Glass from Glassworks. It largely follows the piece as written, but I've added a a few bits of my own and not followed the structure exactly, hence slight rework.

This is one of the first pieces that caught my imagination when I began learning to play piano and it's taken till now for me to get to a point where I'm ready to share my take on it. I'm still very much a late starting learner with the piano, but hopefully there's enough here to get across the beauty of this piece of music.

I am excited about collaborating with soprano Maribel Villarroel and arranger and pianist René Calderón. The lyrics are from a Pablo Neruda poem about Easter Island, "XXII La Isla". This poem is from Pablo Neruda's "The Separate Rose", translated by William O'Daly. The Foundation of Pablo Neruda has granted permission.

Really great to finally release this track which evolved into a complicated prog rock beast as we wanted to create a Tool vibe… we hope we achieved it. Lyrics are based on my own battles with inner demons linked with Jungian psychology exploring the id or shadow.
