A late morning recording in a grove of ponderosa pine.  The wind roars through the pines, then drops down and tickles the aspen, while a few birds sing along.  Best with headphones.

Who: Producer Luis Trasto aka Nueve Vidas and visual artist Fernando Sica aka Rimiyoho

In collaboration, Nueve Vidas & Rimiyoho immerse audiences in an audiovisual experience with analog resources and hardware as maximum catalysts for the imagination. Producer Luis Trasto, aka Nueve Vidas, has specialized in the live performance of analog modular synthesizers (seen previously in the enormous Euroracks of Alias ​​616). Rimiyoho, an illustrator and visual artist, starts with painting techniques and graffiti empowered using digital tools. Together, they present Organismos oníricos (Dream Organisms), a live A/V performance to take audiences  into dreamlike, naturalistic, and mystical worlds traced in real time by Rimiyoho. Over all of that, Nueve Vidas creates a sound narrative based on a complex modular hybrid synthesizer. Organismos oníricos invites audiences on an imaginative journey which, at the pace of IDM and delicate ambient, reconnects with the sacred.

11. Sing A Song

The title of this piece was inspired in the cosmic interstellar phenomena of dust and gas clouds which eventually collide creating stars and planets, but also in stellar globular cumulus where we can experience an incredible visual underplay between stars and light through the wonderful images taken by powerful telescopes, or by watching the via lactea in a clear night.
The composition was based in the different timbre qualities of the oboe instrument, but it also uses electronic transformed sounds coming from his brothers and cousins (Bass oboe, English horn, and Bassoon).
I particularly worked with the incredible multiphonic sounds produced by them, also with different sound iteration techniques such as bisbigliando, double staccato, frullato, and with glissandi sounds.
This work was started at the electronic studio of the Banff Center for the Arts in Canada using recorded samples from Canadian Oboe player Lawrence Cherney, but finally played for the first time by Mexican oboe player Alejandro Tello, and it was concluded in 2005 when thanks to a grant from the Sistema Nacional de Creadores I was finally able to finish it at my own studio in Mexico City.
Due to de difficulty of the piece, it has also been played with clarinet, sax alto, and finally with sax soprano, three instruments which multiphonics are also very interesting. This version is for soprano saxophone, played by the amazing brazilian sax player Pedro Bittencourt.

Recorded 03.28.2019 in Detroit, this volume of my Live Transmissions series captures an extended ambient DJ set from BAK DØR's chill out space, RØM2. I was fortunate enough to be joined that evening by Zac Bru from the Detroit Bureau of Sound (with an amazing live set) and Rebecca Goldberg, who closed out the night with an impeccable DJ set sprinkled with rare vinyl gems. I also need to mention Steven Reaume and Tyler Yglesias for putting so much work into the event, as well as to Robert Guzman for the interior concept, and Audio Rescue Team for handling sound. 

My set for the evening was an almost entirely brand new batch of tracks backed by lots of new found sounds that I was triggering live throughout. Playing for two hours allowed me to branch out and include two tracks by Pink Floyd, a rare Cocteau Twins edit, beats by Boards of Canada and The Field, and even a dabble into acoustic folk. Headphones recommended for this immersive mix that was recorded right from the mixer at 96 kHz 24 bit WAV (the file I uploaded was almost 2.5 gigs of data).

"For the composition, Llahuar Leh uses a technique inspired by film editing. He makes recordings of soundscapes from around the world that later decants, deconstructs and intervenes to generate new imaginary places, out of the laws of physics. There is nothing left in the earth, except for these completely sonic environments that are debated in the tensions of light-darkness, sound-silence. The last animals, rocks and plants have no bodies, they are only noise to which these beats and these voices intend to tame. Echoes that bounce inside a binaural sphere. A record not only of our decline but of our last luminous moments.
Sound science fiction, each of these tracks seems to relate a stage of our extinction narrating with organic atmospheres, a powerful melodic base and chaotic rhythms from both industrial and techno. Each of the sounds of Nada En La Tierra, from the natural organic environments until the last beat heard, were collected by Erick Ruiz Arellano on trips through Asia and Latin America for almost 20 years. Llahuar Leh is an experimental music and sound art project that combines organic ambient atmospheres with chaotic rhythms derived from industrial and techno, all composed with soundscapes recordings made by Erick Ruiz Arellano in more tan 30 countries since 2002, mainly in Asia and America.

The sounds are cataloged, edited and sampled with a technique inspired by cinematographic montage, creating imaginary scenarios that result from the improvised mix of sounds from different parts of the world.

Llahuar Leh not only contemplates the harmonious side of the planet, its nature, languages and rituals, but it is also an expression of its dark side, its decay, curses and malfunctions, the extinction of calm.
