Coldcut start Hour 2 with Jazz from the Claus Waidtlow Quartet, before heading to Ethiopia with Gigi and back to London with The Peddlers alongside The London Philharmonic Orchestra. Then it's a reggae selection from Henry and Louis remixed by Pinch, Linval Thompson and Raggamuffin by Tappa Zukie.
We end the show with Blackjob, the latest project from Italian bassist Mannaman who has his Trashdub Ep out on Original Cultures which features remixes from Sam Binga, Danny Scrilla and T-Woc. His mix takes in soul from Sam Cooke,blues from Lightnin Hopkins, country from Johnny Cash, with him often playing along and redoing elements of the tracks and this is laced throughout with his own future dub productions.

Ambient Meditations Vol 26 - Emancipator

If you are a chillout fan, then chances are you have bobbed your head more than a few times to the beautiful beats and vibes of Portland's Emancipator. Despite the unfortunate timing, 2020 has been a big year for Portland's favorite laidback son, with a full-length album Mountains of Memory, a remix album Mountains of Memory Remixes, and a new EP in the pipeline with 9 Theory called A Thousand Clouds. With the classic boom-bap sound, a continually evolving twist, unlikely pairings, and an ambiance that is uniquely his, Emancipator has become a chillout hall of famer. The mix for AM 26 brings in some legends like Brian Eno and Four Tet; a dabble of Neo-Classical and some of that Bap, all fused with Emancipator's secret sauce. Hit play hit repeat, hit play, hit repeat.

Few electronic producers can meld frenetic, danceable rhythms with introspective song progressions. Lokae manages to do so effortlessly. Bubbling in the Bay Area’s underground electronic community, producer and multi-instrumentalist Lokae (Ian Luo) makes it his mission to move the listener – slaying the dance floor or rocking the theater of your mind, he’s happy with either result.

Originally from China, raised in Southern California, and now currently residing in San Francisco, Luo has developed a far-reaching appreciation for diverse musical backgrounds and styles. He has played classical piano, got his chops down with jazz ensembles, nodded his head for years to the boom bap, and honed techniques of collage while DJing throughout the Bay Area. Such a broad musical background helps inform the pliancy in Lokae’s production strategy, where he brings visceral instrumentation to bear on laptop robotics.

His live performance infuses a cutting-edge Ableton set with dynamic improvisatory skills – where you can see Luo triggering percussive loops, manipulating effects, and layering keyboards on the fly. It’s a talent fit to make any introvert shake around in a frenzy and induce extroverts to have just a moment of thoughtfulness. Expect some heat from this promising beat conductor. –Michael Krimper
