Satire in its finest form. A development of one of my favourite songs from one of my favourite films - there are so many meanings to this song. It's about being female, about the pressures of life as a woman in your teens, 20s and in general, it's about growing up in the noughties surrounded by magazines and media telling us how we should look and what we should consume to be considered 'pretty'. But it's also a commentary on society - because many of us don't see these things as a joke. We truly do 'love' them. Perhaps we should be thinking about that - if our value is based on the ever-changing list of things we need to update our bodies with to 'look better' will we ever truly be happy in ourselves?

my favourite wins

A love letter to toxic relationships - a friendship, a love interest, an addiction. In this case, cigarettes; one of my longest friends, that's been with me more times than anyone else has. Kills me but saves me too. And of course, the title allows this song to be perceived in any way you desire. My hope is that you listen and feel it through multiple avenues.

This song's about taking responsibility for letting yourself fall for someone who never wanted anything serious. It can be easy to blame the other person when it didn't go our way, to victimise ourselves and to villainise them, but sometimes we need to turn our anger and hurt inwards too - not to blame ourselves but to see that really we were secretly hoping we could change them, despite the facts showing us that that was never really possible.
