The walls of the little room in which we are sitting are crammed with photographs. Every branch of the family is represented, it is like a cross section of the Indian empire. For the most part the members of this genealogical tree look like withered leaves: the women are frail and they have a startled, frightened look in their eyes: the men have a keen, intelligent look, like educated chimpanzees. They are all there, about ninety of them, with their white bullocks, their dung cakes, their skinny legs, their old-fashioned spectacles; in the background, now and then, one catches a glimpse of the parched soil, of a crumbling pediment, of an idol with crooked arms, a sort of human centipede. There is something so fantastic, so incongruous about this gallery that one is reminded inevitably of the great spawn of temples which stretch from the Himalayas to the tip of Ceylon, a vast jumble of architecture, staggering in beauty and at the same time monstrous, hideously monstrous because the fecundity which seethes and ferments in the myriad ramifications of design seems to have exhausted the very soil of India itself. Davka is a man of wisdom and elegance. This is his first offering for Shango Records. This track can give you the keys to the gates of the holy mountain. Veytik, Obbie and Solar Kings are your hopes behind those gates.

The silver moon cast a frosted glow upon on the rough stone wall and guardian lion statues. Dragon stared at them as he approached the gate. Their stocky, heavily built bodies seemed to weigh down the stone platforms they sat upon; and the darkness of the night made their stiff curly manes look like rows of carved blossoms. One lion held a round ball underneath his forearm; the other held down a lion cub that seemed to be grinning at him. In fact, all the lions seemed to be grinning at him as if he were a secret joke they were watching. “Am I so funny?” Dragon asked them as he passed. “YES!” burst out the small lion cub, wriggling free of his mother’s paw. “You’re very funny!” As Dragon jumped back in surprise, the lion cub laughed out loud, obviously highly amused at the dragon’s shock. But with his laugh, both adult lions shook themselves from their platforms. “Xiao Mao!” the mother lion scolded. “Don’t laugh at the lost dragon. Besides, you know the rules. No moving in the presence of others.”. Cox delivers sounds of beauty and grace. This is his first offering for Shango Records. These three tracks can take you on a journey where the mountains meet. Shan Nash and Bohem are chasing lions in the temple of Gods.

Philip Bader was born in Berlin and fell in love with electronic music in 1998. He already gave his DJ-debut in 1999 at the old Tresor club. Just spinning records was not enough so he launched „Max und Moritz“ with his friends. They organized quite a few parties in this constellation, the most famous event in Berlin is „Karneval der Verpeilten“ for sure. Altogether, their Sunday afternoon parties in the old Casino Hof called „Gelee Royal“ were the beginning of the legendary “sunday after” parties in Berlin.
In the end it was just the next logical step for Philip Bader to start producing his own music. And now he is only con- centrating on dj-ing and producing. His production debut was a release with Perry Roden on Monika Kruse’s Label Electric Avenue, followed by successful releases on Kindisch, Saved, Moon harbour , This and That etc. For instance, a remix for Raz Ohara on Get Physical and „Mumba Drums“ together with Sascha Braemer on Kinisch (sub label of Get Physical). Philip’s productions are characterized by his deep minimalistic Berlin techno style and the really creative and smartly placed vocals - he uses his own voice quite a few times. His DJ sets are like his productions: consistently deep, playful and powerful. Philip’s latest project is the label „Dantze“ that he’s just started with his friend Niconé.

For our next release we are treated with a diverse 4-track EP by Ghettofaust. After his first appearance on the label last month we are excited to announce his 'End Of The Earth' EP. A diverse yet synth-driven EP showcasing the diversity Ghettofaust is capable of. Starting off we have 'Zugzwang', a mellow dub-infused groovy house track. Following is the title track 'End Of The Earth'. Spooky pads, classic house stabs & a solid warm bassline, the perfect recipe for a proper house record. Diving deeper into the EP we are greeted by the synth-infused techno track 'Mea Culpa'. A bit reminiscent of older Vince Watson productions, the tune layers a lot of different elements together creating an atmospheric & melodic rhythmic record, the true definer of Ghettofaust's style & abilities. Rounding off the EP we stay in the techno area with 'Feierabend'. Proper grooves, dubby stabs and a latin guitar to give the track an unusual twist. 'End Of The Earth' is out on all major platforms on the 29th of August.
