Ebb and Flow are a doubleheader written with the aim of creating something that sounded both beautiful and apocalyptic. There's also a lot of contrast between organic and electronic - with cello, piano, and hand drums featuring heavily in both songs, as well as an oud in "Ebb"

The 'uneasy' tension of the "hum" breaks, transforming into 'resolve.' This is 'Persist.' The "mechanical" beat returns, but it's no longer a 'cage' (Track 3); it's a 'determined march.' This is the sound of 'endurance.' The Cello's voice is no longer 'questioning' or 'shivering'; it is 'striving,' 'passionate,' and 'lyrical,' soaring over the 'driving' rhythm. This is the "hero's march" of the album, the 'striving' journey toward the 'memory's' climax, 'marching off' into the distance.

My interpretation of @jongomm 's beautiful 'Passionflower'. The goal was to spin the percussive guitar sounds into another soothing downtempo electronic ballad, so I kept the synth, bass, and percussive work VERY minimal - I wanted all the details to shine on this one. Enjoy :)

Inspired by the BLM movement and my protest experiences of this past summer (and ongoing efforts to push for police reform and fight systemic racism in the USA) this was really a landmark for me both stylistically and in sound design, really pushing the boundaries and seeing how gnarly I could get with the low end and swingy groove of a track. Part of a fundraising release, track sales donated to NAACP. Throw your fist up.
