And then came the Visitations.

The fifth opus of the Worst Records library could appear as an audiobook for transcendental meditations. If the idea of trance-induced state is no surprise in the music we deliver to the world, this new album by Ricco goes beyond. The pair formed by Gil.Barte, head of Kump Records, and HLM38, in charge of house Notte Brigante, dare to offer a sinuous collection of mantras melted in light, silver dust and darkness. Each track navigates through ritualistic slow beats, drum'n'bass-ish half tempo incantations and other mystic hybrid forms not so far from Kode 9esque or Shakletonists reminiscences, just to name a few. The titles evoke a spiritual diagonal, from biblical to islamic worlds and arcanes, passing through persian tradition and obscure references hard to decipher. Several interludes, leading to the final Prelude, stand as resting rooms to drown the listener into purifying dark-ambient, where glitches of enlightenment and distants sounds from nature slowly disappear in divine drones. You now hold in your hands a keyholder to somewhere else, a sonic ally through everyday chaos, and spells to protect the soul.

WORST005 - Ricco - Visitations (previews)

This week we happily welcome Wosto to the Rubber Tijd series. You might know him as the other half of FALLBEIL (We had Kluentah on the show a few months back!?) and for his releases on labels like teerpappe and macadam mambo and many more. Wosto went fast and peppy with this vinyl only 140 bpm synthpop mix. 

In his own words: 
"Wosto was born in 1980 in Geseke (a small town near in „Wostfalia“) and he got no wife, no childen and no car. In the beginning of the 90ths he was a famous ice skater under the moniker RED FLAME. After an accident in 1995 and an identity crisis he started to collect records and began to work as a DJ for a fairground ride. Wosto and his gang G TOWN BEATS were discovered by the club owner Travolta Michele and they started to do DJ sets in the club KLIMBIM in Geseke. 19,994 of the 20,000 inhabitants of Geseke weren`t interested in the music of the gang and so in 2004 the boys escaped to Hamburg. In 2013 Wosto and his best friend Kluentah founded FALLBEIL. So far they released 10 vinyl records on different labels all over the world. In 2017 Wosto and the two members of NOSTAGIE ÉTERNELLE started the trio SAUERSTOFFF. Wosto is also releasing solo records and is running his own vinyl label - TEERPAPPE."

When Laura (Ondula) makes jokes out of my kind of extravagant elegance, or about her elaborated saturday-night hair-style, she says that’s “macadam mambo”! When I first listened to her saying this I found it very appropriate.

Sacha Mambo, the man who together with Guillaume des Bois, started the notorious label Macadam Mambo, has been one of Diapason highlights. During the past years Sacha and me were part of the same international underground party scene and ended up putting out a couple of my most known releases, which preluded to the most recent EP “That’s when the Animals turned into humans” made with Laura under the name As Longitude and featuring Twoonky and Paul Arambula. If I remember well, Laura, Sacha and me made the agreement exactly in mid July 2018, in Berlin, just before the night at Sameheads began.

The recent lockdown forced Sameheads to cancel our latest two episodes. Shifting to this hidden virtuality, we want to keep the tradition alive and have reached out to some of our past guests and assembled a Diapason Compilation Tape Vol. 1 featuring new music from some of the artists who inspired us.

Girl Power Mix #2 (the follow up of the Girl Power Mix that was released on March 8, 2017) from Stevie Whisper, aka Stefan Unkovic, DJ/producer, promoter and visual artist from Belgrade. He’s a regular in the DJ booths of Belgrade's most prominent underground clubs - 20/44 and Drugstore, putting his own Yes nights as well as various events with his Mystic Stylez crew and recently got released under the Common Thread immprint from Rotterdam. Summer of 2018 saw Yes expanding it's operations by launching a record label.

This mini LP is an explicit message from Lustpoderosa's sonic continuum. These 7 tracks show the deep connection of Marlene Starks' work as a writer and an artist to her role as mother and DJ in times when there is an urgent need to dismantle the patriarchy in our society and rave culture.
Marlene Stark is telling us much more than a great musical story with the symbolic title “Hyäne”. Marlene wants to direct our attention to a reviled creature while she reflects on its literary and symbolic meanings. Although hyenas live in a matriarchal society, its transmutation can be perceived as the ongoing struggle of the non-male body in an androcentric world view.
Marlene Starks reinterprets the figure of the hyena in a very poetic, self-ironical and honest way, as shown in the tracks ‘Hungry As a Hunter’, 'Hyäne’ and ‘Language Of Old Woman’. It's a neo-ceremonial call to rethink established structures without missing out the turbulent landscape of today's politics.
From early trip-hop to post-rave elements, Stark combines her sonic adventures with an impressively nonchalant and colloquial vocabulary. Her voice, as well as the voice of guest singer Stefanie Mader, achieves a remarkable vocal structure that goes beyond the mainstream.
This is the contemporary body music for the next generation.

Marlene Stark is a DJ, producer, author, artist and mother. She is a regular at the @Sameheads Club Berlin where she hosts her party called 'Superposition'.
In 2019, Marlene published her debut novel "M" with co-author Anna Gien at Matthes and Seitz. The book talks about the systematic oppression of women in capitalism and in the art scene while talking about Berlin, its music scene, djing, drugs, sexuality and Male Gaze.
Marlene's debut album 'Hyäne' is a continuation of her work. It’s a thoughtfully influenced and neo-ceremonial music that aspires to evoke body trance and the awakening of hysteria. Marlene Stark floods the dancefloor with rhythmic body music that is dark, courageous and vocal in a political and in a poetic way. The tracks are influenced by early Breakbeat, Downtempo, Trance and Acid, with hints of Trip Hop, Tribal, Psychedelic and Krautrock.

To honor Stephen and his impressive career as musician with Psyche (together with brother Darrin Huss) and as a solo artist, Artificial Dance decided to release his solo work on vinyl for the very first time. The Galaxy LP is a collection of 6 tracks recorded between 1983 - 2005 selected together with Darrin Huss. Belial, Quest 6 and Eternal City will be familiar to fans of Psyche as bonus tracks on the CD version of “Daydream Avenue”. Marooned In Step Time, Galactic and Rattlesnake are discoveries from solo archives that are being made available on a physical release for the first time.

Stephen’s music was featured on the Artificial Dancers compilation earlier this year and after discovering all the great music he has made as a solo artist Artificial Dance contacted Darrin to work on a compilation. Stephen’s music as the foundation of Psyche is known worldwide, but he kept his profile as a solo artist relatively low. 

Together with Darrin, Artificial Dance selected 6 tracks that give a complete overview of Stephen as a solo musician. These wide-ranging synth instrumentals were recorded between 1983 and 2005 and you can clearly hear the range of talent through the early Psyche influences to his further experiments in the electronic genre. Let Galaxy be your guide into this unique musical experience created solely by Stephen Huss. All tracks are remastered by Darrin Huss, artwork by Steele Bonus.

This compilation is a dedication to Stephen Huss and all the great music he has done.

Sounds Of Ogigia is a new label inspired by ancient Greek gnosis, ritual practices and deviant sounds. 

The label is a crossover from the homonymous show for the Edinburgh based EH-FM which is presented by dj and promoter Pako Vega since August 2018.

The first release is by one of the strongest names in the game these days: Aggelos Baltas aka Anatolian Weapons @anatolianweapons. 

On this occasion, the Greek man is delivering a full-on eclectic EP with his unique ethnic touch. This four-track EP is a delicacy for the nonconformists; going from a Psych-Rock exploration and Dancehall rhythms to cathartic Slow-Chug and EBM belters.

The EP will be release digitally only on 21.11.2020 exclusively via Bandcamp.
