lately i've been feeling heavy and this heaviness has nothing to do with gravity ,
feels like i'm carrying tombstones inside my chest , a graveyard beneath my ribcage from all the times i've died inside ,
bruises in my ventricles from all the hurt i kept holstered in my heart ,
and I have bags beneath my eyes from all the tears i've held onto cause boys don't cry ,right?

so i keep on holding on with my knees on cold floors as i pray for light ,
as i pray for healing ,
as i pray for nirvana trying to find the beauty in pain  i'm stuck between the moon and a hard place ,
I'm saying lord please save me

i recently started therapy ,
i thought at this point i'd be having the time of my life but instead 20 years of age and I'm unearthing trauma ,
i stay up at night with tears running down my cheeks wishing i had a childhood i didn't need to heal from ,
i'm trying to find beauty in pain or rather beauty in healing ,
so i stay up till dawn with tears running down my cheeks as i shake poetry from the roots of my trauma ,
nursing years of neglect I'm writing like my life depends on it ,
i'm stitching my heart with metaphors ,
and i'm finding my way back to myself poem by poem .

it's not easy but i'm trying  ,
on some days i feel stuck ,
so i hide in the awkwardness between i'm fine and a fake smile ,
because what do i say when words don't come close to what i feel ?
