I started this journey of DJing, raving, producing, partying, remixing and traveling over nearly twenty years ago. Released on loads of labels like LOT49, U&A, Global Underground, Plastic Raygun, U&A, I've been fortunate to be able travel all around the globe playing beats, breaks and techfunk. Raved it up in USA, Australia, China, all around Europe, Russia, Ukraine and more. From Sheffield to San Francisco, Budapest to Berlin, Melbourne to Manchester, I've been all over the place. I even got to smash up Fabric a few times...Rave safe people.

Self-confessed perfectionist Matt Joy has been seamlessly blending the deeper side of house and tech house since the early years of Cool House,from its beginnings at Las Iguanas to the jam-packed Great Hall and Coal Exchange events of recent times.

Those who’ve heard his mix CDs will concur that the effort he puts in to mixing vinyl makes for some timeless sets. And when Cool House goes deep (with guests like Peace Division, Steve Bug and Loco Dice) it’s more often than not Matt who gets the crowd into the groove.

Appearances have followed at some of the UK’s top clubs, from Ministry in London to Circus in Liverpool, and his efforts were acknowledged at the Welsh Music Awards in 2003 where he scooped the silverware for ‘Best up-and-coming DJ’.

Matt’s creative streak and ear for a tune have manifested in studio productions, notably the collaboration with Dave Mills on ‘Sick Strings’, his debut 12″ release on Ministry of Sound sister label Hussle in 2004.

We live in a world of mass media consumerism, yet never tell a story. Never in the history of mankind, has so much information been available, yet our voices are never heard. Decoded Magazine aims to deliver thought provoking, intelligent journalistic articles that affect the generations who are passionate about electronic music, fashion, lifestyle, industry news, interviews, travel, food and breaking new emerging talent beyond the dance floor. We provide ethical, provoking and humorous content to a global audience.

We are a collective of professional marketing managers, print & web designers, recording artists, journalists, label owners, DJs, social media marketers, event promoters, music publishers and more. It is a labour of love for us, it is a passion that runs deep, a feeling of taking back control of an industry we love and so heavily invest in with our own personal lives. We are not grandstanding, we are not thinking we are going to change the world overnight, but we do hope that we can slowly be a game changer in what people listen to, explore or experience.

Hey, Gareth here, I'm a graphic designer who start designing for clubs, parties, and labels in the late 90s. Back then, mix CDs were the holy grail of both design and music. I loved them.

But I wasn't the only one, mix cds were the soundtracks of our nights, our days, our afterparties and lives, for everyone. Yet in today's internet age, the art form has been lost (or just changed) to 2-3 hour online mixes and streaming videos, which just don't create the same magic your CD collection did. Just 60 minutes of music and incredible artwork.

The Classic Mix CD Series celebrates these discs, their soundtrack, their box art and your memories. We hope you enjoy it.

About Gareth:
Digital creative type, gamer, music lover and occasional DJ. Currently living between Dubai & Seoul after setting sail from Sunderland in 2010. As a young designer, club and music culture was the driving force for his work, producing artwork for local club nights and record labels in the North East of England. In particular, DJ mix cds and their packaging were always his 'holy grail of design', especially those from Renaissance, Global Underground and Good Looking Records. It's a pleasure to share these discs back with people and they still influence our tastes to this day.
