Firing upon the engine. It is the commission of a just crime in favor of human skills. It is a revolutionary declaration of the act of walking. The oil stains the killer's arms and puts the car in a state of complete halt, forcing the passengers to walk. The engine is a signal of escape, and restraining the runaway means temporarily binding it. The spark plugs perform a crucial function, generating a spark to ignite the fuel-air mixture inside the combustion chamber. The heart of humanity is the spark plug inside the engine, it must be removed so it can stand still again. Carl Gari & Abdullah Miniawy step out of the way after spilling the engine oil.

The Egyptian-German collective, composed of Abdullah Miniawy, Till Funke, Jonas Yamer, and Jonas Friedlich, has been engaged in intensive collaboration after their initial meeting in Cairo in 2015. Earning critical acclaim from esteemed media outlets such as Pitchfork, NPR, Resident Advisor, and The Wire Magazine for albums like “Darraje,” “The Act of Falling from the 8th Floor,” and “Between the Bullet and The Front Sight, Casting Lots,” among others, they have showcased their unique sound at prestigious festivals and venues including the Institute of Contemporary Art London, Berlin Atonal, Haus der Kunst, Positive Education, and Rewire Festival.

Amphibian Records is teaming up with Carl Gari & Abdullah Miniawy to bring the first full album into the label's catalog.

SATNAV, the experimental electronic solo project of Sebastian Zieler, co-founder of The Big Oil Recording Company (Debbie Sings, Tettix Hexer, Aperly High), releases his debut album, every•thing•a•part, Friday 13 June 2025.

With detailed sound design, pop-inspired harmony and high-contrast sonic imagery, the album is a series of lamentations and love songs for nature. every•thing•a•part is a climate grief concept album, where thinking machines remember and mourn the loss of a world once living.

Composed with spontaneity and meticulously produced, the album mixes folk and pop melody with avant-garde electronic experimentation. SATNAV describes the process as "painting with an imaginary palette”. From the trance-inflected ecstatic longing of Sky Burial to the cumbia-nugaze of Concrete Rainbow / arco-íris de concreto, the album weaves in and out of euphoric highs and stark despair with compositions that feel like sound paintings in vivid, shifting colours. In One World, We Were Two Towers on Opposite Shores, Facing Each Other for 3,000 Years is mythic, time-collapsing storytelling (a multiversal ‘what if’), while title track every•thing•a•part is a psychonautical ode to interconnectedness. Floe Wichu, originally released on Petrola 80’s 2020 Expand compilation, is the ocean remembered, first by thinking machines that experienced it teeming with life, then by generations with no first-hand memory. It was the first track composed for the album and became its blueprint. r u alpha waving at me?? is a goodnight story for all animals, read aloud in 1’s and 0’s, while Stim Sim is about the importance of imagining better worlds: “Raise a ladder to the heavens / Smuggle mana across the REM border”. (A) Soft Round Kind (Thing) closes the album in catharsis, flickering gently like the embers of a digital ship burial.

The album is released with a 360, VR journey exploring the cycle of life and death, perception and sensory categorisation, at once violent, beautiful and serene in feeling. A collaboration with 3D animator and musician Joakim Moesgaard, set to the track Sky Burial, it is -- without hyperbole -- unlike any other VR artwork, exploring eight separate “lives” in rapid succession. SATNAV is a portmanteau of “satellite navigation”, the UK-English name for GPS systems, and refers to the God’s-eye view from above – an awesome and useless state. With works of grunge, space rock, art pop and dungeon synth that you can find if you look for it, SATNAV makes the music he would like to make right now.

Copenhagen-based The Big Oil Recording Company prepare to unveil the first full length album from label founder Sebastian Zieler, better known as SATNAV...The standout self-titled track commands attention from the first kick-drum resonating like a lost signal in a submerged room. A relentless pulse of processed percussions crash through a thick layer of distorted signals, conjuring the feeling of diving into an infinite phantasmagoria. As the track builds, it morphs into a haunted soundtrack filled with tension-heavy synthesizers and deep-rooted basslines evoking a UFO transmission etched in after-hour surrealism.

In April, 2020 Beat Craft has selected the Egyptian artist Omar Kayal for its debut as an imprint. Beat Craft 001, KG Mixtape, is a 22 minute mixtape of 8 original previously unreleased tracks by Omar Kayal plus a collaboration with Egyptian producer Essperx. 

Previously released on Egypt-based label ANBA, Kayal's talent emerges strongly in this mixtape where melodic lines are "heavily influenced by my Nubian origin and developed on piano scales in nights spent over Ableton", he comments. Epic choruses are mixed with breaks, drum and bass, more gloomy atmospheres and subaqeous alien synths and organs. The work reflects everyday restlessness, anxiety, stress, will to escape, and the artist's existential self-adressed question: is it worth it?

Lil Taty is Belgrade based producer and DJ who emerged on the scene during spring 2013. His music is heavily influenced by UK club music in its most sinister shape, yet manages to find its own niche among the contemporary club movement. He is a co-founder of @minoradjustments-records alongside @bolelee and founder of MURK @murkbeograd podcast - mix series which discover fresh and exciting DJs from both the local and international underground scenes. With influences ranging from Fugazi to Lee 'Scratch' Perry, Lil Taty is a man with a taste for audacious sound, which is reflected in both his DJ sets and his productions for the likes of Classical Trax, heel.zone and SEAGRAVE.
