Consoles :: 7 quick lockdown questions

1. Action, Drama, Romance or Documentary movie? 
I don't watch a lot of talkies these days, but  the last thing I watched was a documentary. 'My Octopus Teacher' blew my mind and expanded my appreciation of the infinite mystery of our earth and fellow species.

2. Coffee, Tea or Alcohol? 
One of each thanks!  Although if I could only have one for the rest of eternity it would be tea - there are so many delicious infusions.

3. Sleep in or get up early 
I used to aspire to being an early bird - but I've resigned myself to the fact that waking up will always be an excruciating exercise of personal willpower.

4. Favourite Sunday afternoon listening album 
Currently it's probably Power Spot by Jon Hassell or Holy Spring by Lawrence Pike- but it depends on what sort of afternoon I'm having. I also enjoy tuning into RRR or PBS :)

5. What art movement describes you the best?
Neo-Expressionism? I think? I'm not really across all of the sub genres of sub genres... I think that art is for everyone and that play and creation is a fundamental part of being a human animal - so perhaps we are all part of the same movement?

6  Opera, Country, Folk or Black Death Metal
There are good and terrible examples in every genre, so never say never. But I'm more likely to be listening to folk or country on a regular basis.

7. Tell us something no one knows about you
I was so depressed and consumed by grief after the bushfires earlier in the year that I didn't think I would ever play music again - I didn't even want to listen to any music. It felt like the light had gone out of the world. I realised recently that somewhere during lockdown my capacity to enjoy music had crept back in, perhaps not in the same way as before, but I'm grateful to Machine for inviting me to prepare this podcast - it's been good to create something I can share with my Machine family until we meet again xxx

Helloo!

It's been a long time, and quiet at that from my end. Just having a fallow spell and/or mojo lull (depending on the day :), managing my mind and health (or not - ditto ;), musing and meandering and mimimalising... And while that's great / necessary (! :), I've found it a little unsettling to have this subside into dormancy... So it's fortunate that, in my inactivity, I've amassed a minor backlog of sets to upload - something fresh, however aged :D

Music and art can very much touch us with the essence of symmetry, balance, fluidity, cohesion whilst their counterparts: dis-juncture, chaos, inertia, provide the tension that makes for the through-line: Story.

No wonder then that Xavier Morel, a veteran and simply awesome producer and Dj speaks in such terms. In these days where the distinction between artist and playlist are becoming less distinct, the essence of audio art is becoming distilled in its import.

Starting his DJ career off in 1988 Xavier has Dj'd throughout Europe, Australia and Asia, most particularly Japan where he was based for years.

On the production front has worked and collaborated with Juno Reactor, Prime Suspect, Section X, Eat Static, Fuel, Carcharodon Megalodon, VX & H229 (on Machine Label),Marcus Maichel,Shane Berry,Oz Morsley ,and project comming with greg hunter,Marcus Maichel. Presently very active on the new project with pat lazer (aka section x)  REPLICANTS 2049.
