"Streets of Rage 2" is a beat em up 16-bit classic for many reasons, particularly the scorching-hot soundtrack by master composers Yuzo Koshiro and Motohiro Kawashima. It's a mixture of hard-hitting techno, house and big beat thrown into a cocktail and cranked out to sonic perfection, but...it was working within the confines of a 16-bit cartridge-based console.

I wanted to further flesh out the songs on this soundtrack with my signature expansions, which are entirely new additions to the song in order to make them longer and broader in scope. This is my take on what Koshiro and Kawashima would have done with more time, better hardware, and higher storage capacity. As always, EVERY song in the soundtrack has been painstakingly recreated from the ground up, note-for-note. No sampling, no rips, no stems.

I can't take much credit for this one. I never thought I'd be able to make this song sound any better beyond it's 16-bit glory, but I finally managed to (in my opinion at least). With some help from an MIDI file on VGMusic.com and the user "Joo *Johnnyz* Buaes" that mapped it, I was able to compile what you can hear now. I listened intently to the original over and over, trying to interpret what Yuzo's instruments of choice were trying to be. Given his hardware limitations, his compositions still amaze me to this day.

I had in mind to remix the trailer tune since I saw the reveal and finally I been able to finish it! has been also a good chance for me to dive for some synthwave 80s italo disco kind of vibe which in all honesty is always a good thing :) 

Er, I don't really know what will the OST be like in the game (like all of you of course), so I went also for a small throwback of some Yuzo work in it ;)

🔥FINAL CRASH UPDATE / Nov. 6/23🔥 - To commemorate the upcoming release of F-Games fan game STREETS OF RAGE X, I have created a  new expanded and enhanced version of the original main theme "The Street of Rage" from Streets of Rage 1. Originally, this particular song was meant to blend elements of both main themes from SOR1 and SOR2, and was referred to as "The Street of Rage." However, I've now renamed it to its official SOR2 variant, "S.O.R. Super Mix," and uploaded the FINAL CRASH edition, for the ultimate in sonic clarity. I hope you enjoy.

After years of fighting it, I've finally created a version that I feel most happy with. I don't think I'll ever get it perfect (nothing is), but this is the closest to the vision I wanted. This is one of the hardest rocking video game tunes ever created, and I'm proud to build on Yuzo Koshiro's dynamite ingenuity and imagination with my expanded sections.

🔥FINAL CRASH UPDATE / Nov. 6/23🔥 - When planning for the FINAL CRASH editions of Streets of Rage 2, I realized that my original project files had been lost. So, I took the opportunity to create an entirely new version of "In The Bar" to round out the package. I think it sounds better than ever, and I'm happy with how it turned out. With smooth saxophones, flutes and funky horns, this is one jazzy, sexy rendition of a Koshiro klassic!

In The Bar (Expanded & Enhanced) - STREETS OF RAGE 2

🔥FINAL CRASH UPDATE / Nov. 6/23🔥 - "Never Return Alive" is the one track that blew everyone away when I expanded it years ago. Now, I'm happy to put out the FINAL CRASH edition of the song, with the best balancing, clarity and power to bring out the sound. With thrashing heavy metal rhythm guitars and thumping beats, I wanted to pay homage to Koshiro's work with a Boss theme to end ALL Boss themes.

🔥FINAL CRASH UPDATE / Nov. 6/23🔥 - "Spin On The Bridge" has always been a challenge to master, given how much insanity is going on inside the song. It's positively manic, with a deep sub-bass that will rip the speakers apart, making it very hard to EQ and master. I'm happy with this final edition of my expanded and enhanced version, and I hope you all get in the spirit of the game, especially when you play Streets of Rage X by F-Games, where I provide the official soundtrack.
