"Streets of Rage 2" is a beat em up 16-bit classic for many reasons, particularly the scorching-hot soundtrack by master composers Yuzo Koshiro and Motohiro Kawashima. It's a mixture of hard-hitting techno, house and big beat thrown into a cocktail and cranked out to sonic perfection, but...it was working within the confines of a 16-bit cartridge-based console.

I wanted to further flesh out the songs on this soundtrack with my signature expansions, which are entirely new additions to the song in order to make them longer and broader in scope. This is my take on what Koshiro and Kawashima would have done with more time, better hardware, and higher storage capacity. As always, EVERY song in the soundtrack has been painstakingly recreated from the ground up, note-for-note. No sampling, no rips, no stems.

🔥FINAL CRASH UPDATE / Nov. 6/23🔥 - The previous versions of "Revenge Of Mr. X" sounded pretty good, but for this one, I needed to bring my AAA game. I believe it's never sounded better, especially with the mixture of heavy metal rhythm and twin lead guitars to bring out the menace and mayhem of Yuzo Koshiro's original composition. The song also pays tribute to "Big Boss" from Streets of Rage 1, with an identical ending passage to link the two games together.

Bloody Tears (Super Castlevania IV)

The original version of "Silence Night" plays when the main player fails to rescue Naoko from being crushed to death during the final battle with Zeed, thus triggering the bad ending. The original 40+ second version of the song only hints at the tragedy of it all. I wanted my expansion to put the listener in the mind of Joe Musashi, and the anguish and sorrow he would have felt over failing at his task, and losing the love of his life. I also wanted to amplify the atmosphere by adding in some harmonized piano and a Japanese koto for more authenticity. Hope you all enjoy it.

The original version of "My Lover" felt like 10% of a finished ending theme, and I wanted to greatly flesh it out without over-extending its allure and welcome. This meant beefing up the section with a twofold approach: 

1) To stress the importance of the "good ending," and the saving of Naoko from certain death at the hands of Zeed's trap.

2) To create a much more compelling, rousing and triumphant ending theme that takes into account everything Joe Musashi went through during the game.

You, listener, will decide if I hit that mark or not. For now, I'm very proud of what I've done with the soundtrack for "The Revenge of Shinobi," and I'm very happy you have all joined me for the journey. Big news to come as I move onto a brand new soundtrack, so stay tuned!

Originally, this particular song was meant to blend elements of both main themes from SOR1 and SOR2, and was referred to as "The Street of Rage." However, I've now renamed it to its official SOR2 variant, "S.O.R. Super Mix," and uploaded the FINAL CRASH edition, for the ultimate in sonic clarity. I hope you enjoy.

After years of fighting it, I've finally created a version that I feel most happy with. I don't think I'll ever get it perfect (nothing is), but this is the closest to the vision I wanted. This is one of the hardest rocking video game tunes ever created, and I'm proud to build on Yuzo Koshiro's dynamite ingenuity and imagination with my expanded sections.

So, I took the opportunity to create an entirely new version of "In The Bar" to round out the package. I think it sounds better than ever, and I'm happy with how it turned out. With smooth saxophones, flutes and funky horns, this is one jazzy, sexy rendition of a Koshiro klassic!

🔥FINAL CRASH UPDATE / Nov. 6/23🔥 - "Never Return Alive" is the one track that blew everyone away when I expanded it years ago. Now, I'm happy to put out the FINAL CRASH edition of the song, with the best balancing, clarity and power to bring out the sound. With thrashing heavy metal rhythm guitars and thumping beats, I wanted to pay homage to Koshiro's work with a Boss theme to end ALL Boss themes.

🔥FINAL CRASH UPDATE / Nov. 6/23🔥 - "Spin On The Bridge" has always been a challenge to master, given how much insanity is going on inside the song. It's positively manic, with a deep sub-bass that will rip the speakers apart, making it very hard to EQ and master. I'm happy with this final edition of my expanded and enhanced version, and I hope you all get in the spirit of the game, especially when you play Streets of Rage X by F-Games, where I provide the official soundtrack.
